Director and Producer: Robert Zemeckis Writers: Martin Donavan and David Koepp Stars: Meryl Streep, Goldie Hawn and Bruce Willis.
Released in 1992 this dark comedy is surprisingly funny with some cracking special effects.
**THE PLOT**
When Madeline Ashton, (played by Meryl Streep) steals the lover, Ernest Menville, (played by Bruce willis) from Helen Sharp, (played by Goldie Hawn), the two women become bitter rivals, even to the point of death. Things become more hateful for when Madeline and Ernest get married, leaving the depressed Helen looking for revenge.
The movie spins on many years later, showing the audience how successful and still beautiful Helen has become whilst her rival, Madeline, has sadly aged with Ernest becoming a highly paid mortician and alcoholic.
Madeline soon discovers the secret to Helens youthful complexion and decides to follow her rivals way of life.
This is where the movie really kicks in, with the two bitter rivals now as young looking as each other and both seeking the love of the very rich Ernest.
The two women seem hell bent on trying to kill each other, succeeding several times, to the utter amazement of each other. Poof Ernest is then dragged into the women's deadly game, his mortician skills coming in very handy.
**IN CONCLUSION**
It is a sort of love triangle/murder/horror/comedy movie for everyone to enjoy
With some good fight scenes and the usual chase scene this movie is of great entertaining value and can be watched many times without losing interest.
The movie also gives its idea into what may have really happened to many dead celebrities as we see them all together at a party.
The comical way that the scary scenes are made makes this a movie which can be viewed by some younger adults, (but maybe not too young as they tend to ask more questions).
I really enjoyed watching it the first time and I have seen it several times since, especially when it has been on the television.
It is an excellent movie for its time and is well worth adding to your collection.
