Advantages: A good, fresh and original comedy Disadvantages: Isn't as funny the second time round
The death of a family member isn't exactly the easiest of times but for Daniel (Matthew Macfadyen) his Father's funeral is going to go beyond upsetting. If something could go wrong it certainly does for Daniel, from an Undertaker who can't do his job properly to the return of his famous, author brother, who is perhaps the most selfish man alive. The real mystery though is a Dwarf whom no one recognizes amongst the congregation, who seems particularly ... ...imagine. It is a film that will have you laughing. Advantages: Quirky and slightly traditional comedy Disadvantages: Missed at cinemas by most
...in a hurry to watch Death At A Funeral due to the fact that annoying BT advert boy and My Family star Kris Marshall was in it, the discovery yesterday morning that the movie is the work of Yoda star Frank Oz made me suddenly want to find the DVD. Best of all I was glad that I did, because with the odd minor exception I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Even the annoying Kris Marshall did a good enough job here and luckily stayed hidden for much of the ... ...have mixing happiness and grief. Death At A Funeral is a very British 100% just for laughs movie, never once showing even a touch of sobriety. But I guess with the movies heart being engaged in a grieving process light needs to be made of the most tragic of times, and Frank Oz does not miss a single trick. Better still Oz seems to have picked up some tips from John Landis who he worked with on the movie Trading Places, and delivered those to this ...

Advantages: Its pretty funny, Cast/performances, Disadvantages: A bit similar to TV shows like the worst week of my life
- Introduction -
Death at a Funeral is a British movie which I heard about recently and it sounded quite funny and interesting, so I thought I'd give it a go. It stars Kris Marshall, who is more well known as the rather dumb Nick from My Family. I thought it would be good to see a new British movie, so I rented this and this is what its all about and what I thought about it.

Death at a funeral is all about the family and friends that meet up at a funeral. This turns out to be quite an eventful funeral, that doesn't entirely go to plan, thanks to a shocking revelation about the deceased (which I won't spoil for you) and some embarrassing behaviour displayed by one of the attendees, who was unknowingly given hallucinagenic drugs (sp?).
The movie stars Kris Marshall, Keeley Hawes, Matthew Macfadyen, ...

DVD Description
Written by Dean Craig and directed by comedic veteran Frank Oz, DEATH AT A FUNERAL finds a well-to-do family attempting to bury their patriarch amidst a backdrop of secrets, revelations, rivalries, and illicit pharmaceuticals. While the dutiful Daniel (Matthew MacFadyen) stoically contends with major roadblocks in planning his father's funeral, including being presented with the wrong body, others connected with the family have catastrophes of their own, including the anxious Simon (Alan Tudyk), who is engaged to Martha (Daisy Donovan), and mistakenly takes a hallucinogen to calm his nerves. Lurking in the background is a mysterious stranger (Peter Dinklage) who threatens to send the chaotic proceedings over the brink. A charming mix of high and lowbrow humour, DEATH AT A FUNERAL is a lively farce that makes the most of its hijinks-filled script and top-notch cast. In addition to excellent performances by MacFadyen (PRIDE AND PREJUDICE) and Tudyk (SERENITY), the film features fine turns by Donovan, Andy Nyman, and Jane Asher. Easily Oz's best movie since the giddily silly BOWFINGER, DEATH AT A FUNERAL showcases the director's knack for working with large ensembles, and will appeal to fans of his earlier romp IN AND OUT, as well as to aficionados of biting British comedy.
