Dazed And Confused
Review of Dazed And Confused DVD by Pyrokeet

Advantages: really uplifting film
Disadvantages: makes you feel really nostalgic

...it's just that good! Dazed And Confused is set around just one day, the last day of school in 1976. It follows different groups of people around the day, and more importantly, the evening and gives us a slice of american life. I don't even for a moment pretend to understand the american school system, but this film does make it slightly more confusing. On the back of the (video) case, it says 'pink, mitch and their friends are starting life after ...
...be to watch if you are 'older'! My recommendation is definitely see this film, it's so nice and enjoyable to watch and such easy viewing. Sorry this review is a bit disjointed, but that kinda reflects the film, it does leave you a bit dazed and confused! ... Read review

Dazed and Confused
Review of Dazed And Confused DVD by chilledbudwei2er

Advantages: great feel good flim
Disadvantages: nothing

This time, the director of "Slacker" explores his seventies high-school years. And it's the quintessential movie about high school regardless of what era you are a product of. This film has been labeled as doing to seventies high school what "American Grafiti" did to sixties high school. Although I don't wish to knock that superb film from George Lucas, "Dazed" goes a lot further than "Grafiti". "Dazed" explores all the bittersweetness of those years. ...
...is so much truth in the film. For example, the moment in the film where freshman Mitch Kramer realizes the same seniors who gave a brutal initiation ritual are actually a bunch of cool guys once he starts hanging out with them. That's a genuine experience, that anyone who lived in high school can identify with in some way. This is the ultimate movie about hanging out beacuse it's really the way real people actually hang out. There's no zany slapstick ... Read review

im dazed but not confused
Review of Dazed And Confused DVD by the_stickman

Advantages: funny, inspirational, just wow
Disadvantages: may only appeal to fans of teen movies

This film was made in the last years of the classic "teen movie" era. in 1993 director Richard Linklater (also known for Empire records and Slacker) made an excellent film, set in 1976. It was the last day of high school in a small texas town. The seniors are preparing for a big party while "introducing" the freshman. The freshman girls are humiliated and covered in sauces and the freshman boys are physically beaten with bats(its funny). One of these ...
...for seniors "introduction". one of the seniors "Randall "pink" Floyd"(Jason London) picks up mitch after his "after baseball match beating" and introduces him properly to the high school flow. With the biggest beer bust party of the year. It follows different seniors and freshman through the day and makes you really feel what its like to be a 70's kid. This film is a little confusing and seems to have no plot at all, but if you watch it twice you ... Read review

Dazed and Confused
Review of Dazed And Confused DVD by marie_flame

Advantages: brilliant alternative teen flick, great cast of the young and beautiful people! great soundtrack
Disadvantages: nothing

This film comes from the Director of other cult teen drama/comedy Empire Records. It follows the individual stories of a handful of high school characeters from different age groups and peer groups, leaving school for either graduation or spring break. Set in the 1970s america. First we have the Seniors who are making sure they give the new freshman a good hazing, by making them perform cruel and harsh tasks and covering them in eggs and flour etc. ...
...been done to them, this is an initiation ceremony of sorts! Then We have the freshmen, who are scared and nervous of their new role in school life, and of the hazing of course! Four young friends manage to escape the hazing and we see how their story unfolds. There are the stoners, who spend all their time in school mashed, making bongs in shopclass! Then we have the preppys who are popular, and the jocks who who get a hard time from the school ... Read review

Dazed & Confused? You could well be!
Review of Dazed And Confused DVD by theblackstar

Advantages: Good US low budget film.
Disadvantages: For the Art House, not for all.

Starring: Jason London, Joey Lauren Adams, Milla Jovovich Director: Richard Linklater Released: 1993 Set in the last "daze" of school in 1976, this film perfectly captures the spirit and fashions of the time. Actually supposed to be over the last 24hrs of the last day of term before summer, the film plods merrily along, just like a hot summer day in Texas where it is set. Drinking beer and smoking pot feature large. As do the 'paddles' that the ...
...Bill and Ted for real. These are true 'slackers' (The title of Linklater's first film). The film like the slackers that make up its cast of characters float through the narrative. For what its worth! There seems little point to the story, more a slice of life than a structured narrative here. But well done all the same. Reminicent of Bevis 'n' Butthead, this is a postmodern piece set in a period before the term was even invented. A film of the here ... Read review

DVD Description

Richard Linklater's DAZED AND CONFUSED takes a hysterical, nostalgic cross-clique look at American high school social development. On the last day of school in May 1976, students at a suburban Texas high school wait, lackadaisically, for classes to end. The restless almost-seniors--an eclectic group of stone-heads, fraternal jocks, and snobby sorority girls--can't wait to haze the incoming freshman, an annual event as harrowing for freshman boys as it is humiliating for girls. Amidst this teenage wasteland of drugs, partying, and rock and roll is football star Pink (Jason London), who saves scrawny pre-frosh Mitch (Wiley Wiggins) from being paddled to oblivion by upper-classmates. But Pink has his own battles: he's struggling over the head coach's demand that football players sign a pledge to abstain from sex and all psychoactive substances. When a wild end-of-the-year party is cancelled, the students end up congregating at a beer-blast in the back woods, organized by aging hang-about Wooderson (Matthew McConaughey). In the same way that George Lucas assembled a cast of fresh young faces for AMERICAN GRAFFITI, Linklater here creates an unforgettable cast of characters that are immediately familiar to anyone who has ever been through high school.
