Advantages: Good story, sound and picture Disadvantages: There are some scenes we have a sense of deja-vu

Genre : War drama
First time I saw this movie in FrenchTV, I didn't know the title at that time. But later, when I travelled I found this movie in DVD format. I recognized from the cover shown 4 soldiers their stories told in the movie. At that time I knew the title "IndÍgenes", later known as "Days Of Glory" in English title.
It's a French movies which use French (commonly) language and some Arabian language. Directed by Rachid Bouchareb, released in 2006.
In 1943, while German-Nazi with his Wehrmacht/SS occupied more than half European until North Africa (including French colonies), French Army really needed new soldiers from their colonies. French said help us to regained victory so the colonies might had...

Advantages: Good plotline with a morality theme and Regeneration. Disadvantages: Some ham acting it has to be said.
...We might say that this DVD i have enjoyed several times as the plot does have a few entertaining twists and there are some deeper morality issues with jek and the army.
There are villians at every corener from the Army, Jek, and the evil Morgus, as well as a magma monster for those monster loving fans, all in all a very enjoyable DVD still in the glorydays of Doctor Who.
Unfortunatley the accent of Peri brown is not too great as there are some words that are clearly spoken in a very English accent, but all in all the acting is satisfactory.
Without divulging the plot too greatley it seems that each episodes hallmark cliffhanger is exactly that, from disease, executions to space ships crashing, they do rather keep you watching.
And the mystery of the celery is finally solved!...

Advantages: Great look back at the glory days Disadvantages: Only good for LFC fans
...This was fabulous yet hard to watch. Fabulous because it brought back all the memories of football in my childhood. Hard because I realise how much I miss those days amongst the tedium, commercialisation and lack of player/fan repartee thatis modern day football.
The 3 managers showcased, Shankly, Paisley, and Dalglish are all heroes in the history of Liverpool, probably he 3 biggest heroes in their illustrious history. It really is one of those DVD's for fans only. It is great to be able to lookback at the way the club was rebuilt in Shankly's early days to European glory in Paislay's days to (almost) domestic perfection in Dalglish's period. Luckily for all Liverpool fans the DVD does not go past those days or it would have to show the downturn the club has faced since the dark day in February when Dalglish resigned.
Overall...

DVD Description
There has never been a WWII film quite like Rachid Bouchareb’s DAYS OF GLORY, which shows the ‘good war’ through the eyes of four North African soldiers fighting for the French army during the German occupation. Though similar in both structure and tone to Steven Spielberg’s SAVING PRIVATE RYAN, GLORY seeks recognition for soldiers who were treated as second-class citizens during their service and never given their due. Under the leadership of Sergeant Martinez (Bernard Blancan), a company of North African soldiers undergoes a series of skirmishes across Italy and France, preventing the advance of the Nazis. Uneducated Said (Jamel Debbouzel, AMELIE), who had few options outside of enlistment, acts as a virtual servant to Martinez. Yassir (Samy Naceri) and his brother, Larbi (Assad Bouab), also come from poverty and--though they joined for selfish reasons--are fierce fighters. Messaoud (Roschdy Zem) is strong and silent, and has deadly aim with a rifle. Abdelkader (Sami Bouajila), however, is the ambitious one, unafraid to speak up when he and his company encounter prejudice, yet ever hopeful that he will be recognized for his achievements and be given the same liberty, equality, and fraternity as those who were born French. Through a series of bloody and spectacular battles with the Germans, these men risk their lives, never knowing what they will have at the end of it all. DAYS OF GLORY packs all the punch of a great war film---thrilling and heartbreaking battles, humor, and the loss of people we grow to care for. Bouchareb fearlessly uses a time-honored genre to address an elephant in the French living room: we are told at the film’s conclusion that, in 1952, France voted to cease pension payments to soldiers from countries no longer under French rule. In 2006, following a screening of this film, Jacques Chirac reinstituted their pensions.
...This is by far one of the best war films made. If ever there was an antidote to all those gloryglory films this must surely be it. If you expected one of those cheesey all American hero things then you will be shocked from your complacence in the early scenes of the D-Day landings. I can't think of too many other films which depict the savage horror of the experience in quite such a convincing way and its done in a way which neither revels in nor glorifies the whole situation. It would be an insult to say one can understan what it was like but this is certainly food for thought. The rest of the film up to the final climatic scenes are equally as absorbing and Speilbergs treatment is superb....

Advantages: A great gift for gardeners Disadvantages: There's not enough episodes!
...This makes a great gift for keen kitchen gardeners. The gardener in the series was a gardener in a real Victorian kitchen garden and shows exactly how they did it - you can pick up some really good hints and tips. You see the garden throughout the year, too, and it's easy on the eyes!
Throughout the series you see the transformation as the neglected walled kitchen garden at Chiltern Foliat (in Berkshire) is restored to its former glory as a working kitchen garden.
Step back in time and learn how the Victorians grew pineapples in their greenhouses, and how they supplied freshly grown produce to the 'big house' every day of the year. Find out about Victorian seeds, and which heritage varieties are still worth growing today.
The DVD special features are a bit light: an interview with presenter Peter Thoday and a History File....
