Review: An effective and pessimistic fable on the inadequacy of man and the sufficiency of the beasts (Sight And Sound, )
...Flipper the dolphin has been around ever since I can remember, a young boy befriends a dolphin, the dolphin becomes in danger, the boy rescues flipper and vice versa.
‘Nuff said.
This story is about a 14 year old boy who is spending time with his uncle (Paul Hogan) on a little island. It’s there that the boy meets Flipper the Dolphin, who then discovers that Flipper is getting ill because of a company dumping chemicals into the water. So, they try to fight against them creating some Greenpeace and Animal Rights issues along the way. Child awareness I’ll call it.
The movie is based on the television series, quite straight forward really.
Kid flick....

Advantages: A few gory death scenes - if you like that kinda thing, and Dennis Quaid Disadvantages: Terrible plot, terrible special effects, very very clichéd
...could have been saved had it not been for the ending, when two dolphins merrily pop beneath the sea to save the day. The scene before the credits shows the dolphins leaping in display-fashion over the two rescued humans, and the expected kiss takes place.
This film lets the entire series down. Jaws 1 and 2 are amazing and original, this film tears all that build-up to shreds. Don't watch....

Advantages: Great storyline, funny Disadvantages: none
...Ace Ventura Pet Detective is about a man called Ace (Jim Carrey) who works for the police force as a pet detective. His job involves investigating crimes against pets. The role of Ace is played perfectly by Jim Carrey as he has all of the laugh out loud comedy that a film like this needs. The storyline is well thought through, interesting and easy to follow. In this film Ace goes on the hunt for a missing dolphin which has been stolen from American football team the Miami dolphins. The dolphin is their mascot and it is up to Ace to find the missing dolphin and save the day for everyone. I would rate this film 9/10 as this film has all the makings of a great watch!...
