Hi everyone, thought it was high- time I introduced myself properly! I'm 21 and a student. I'm studying French and German at Uni and have spent two years studying abroad in Provence and Cologne (gonna have to get writing some Travel reviews!)

I decided to buy these videos to tone my belly and thighs up a bit (getting my holiday photos back and seeing myself in a bikini may have had something to do with it aswell!) There is always a lot of choice in the fitness video section: I decided to buy this one as it includes Davina's two personal trainers who actually know what they're on about and use words like "core stability" and "cardio session" rather than "dance workout" and "bums 'n' tums" (I put more faith in the former to actually work!) With this DVD, although it's Davina's name on the box, it is obviously the professional trainers who have put the workout together. In my opinion, I would rather do a workout designed by people who do it for a living, as I think it's more likely to work than some Coronation Street actress jumping around, or Jade Goody shouting at you over some chavvy music!
The first one I tried was Davina: Power of Three. I hadn't worked out for a while and I ached all over afterwards. But even so, by the end of week one, I already began to see a difference. Like everyone else, I go through these phases where I think "gotta lose weight, gotta get healthy", so at the same time as doing these exercises I'd cleared all the junk out of the fridge and was drinking my 8 glasses of water a day. Obviously, you can't buy the DVD and just do the exercises, you've got to make changes in your diet before you see any real difference.
The extras on the DVD are pretty pointless. I don't see how "Davina on clothes" is helpful to anyone unless you're Davina McCall, and "Davina on Food" is her basically her in a supermarket trying to explain about healthy eating, but she doesn't really seem to actually SAY anything. However, I do agree with one thing she says: diets just do not work. You can go on a no-carb diet, lose loads of weight, but then you'll only put it all back on once you start eating normally again. You don't need to cut anything out: everything is ok in moderation.
Davina is an ok person to have "presenting" it. I can't say I'm a huge fan, but she has a laugh whilst working out and can be quite funny, which does help. In fact the funniest thing about this DVD if you watch it are the personal trainers: they're a husband and wife team, the husband is a big muscly body-builder, and his wife is short and fat and demonstrates the "easy" workouts, and says things like "if this is too hard for you, just have a lie down!"
Although I have only been doing the workouts for a short time, I have already noticed a difference: I'm starting to see abs emerging, and my thighs are becoming a lot firmer already. I would say this DVD is probably one of the most worthwhile fitness DVD's on the market: it's not just showing you how to get a smaller bum or a less flabby tummy, it actually improves your overall level of fitness, and encourages you to look after your health and figure long-term.
