Complete waste of time
Review of Conan The Destroyer (Wide Screen) (Collector's Edition) (+Cards) by  stanharris75b

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Rubbish film. Rubbish DVD

...This film, in the words of Dickinson, looks as cheap as chips. The effects are really bad and cheesy, the acting is dreadful and the story is ridiculous. I would not recommend this film to anyone, it just isn't worth the money. It took me about a week on and off to watch, because I kept getting so bored. The only reason I finished it is because I always finish watching a film when I start, to give it a fair chance. Lots of films are sluggish at the beginning but quite often get better. Not this film. The start is actually better than the end (but still dismal). The DVD itself is also poor, the menus are clunky and not user-friendly and the extra features are even more boring than the film (if that's possible). I really don't think that anyone would enjoy this, I can't believe it got made in the first place, let alone released... Read review

Review of East Is East DVD by  malison

Advantages: insight to a different culture
Disadvantages: none

...after months off wanting this film, i finally brought it! i searched around for the best price, and the best price i found was £9.97 for the dvd in asda, cheap as chips as david dickenson would say!! this film is hilarious, its about a pakistani family, living in salford. its set in the early seventies, it stars dev from coronation street, theres someone else from corrie aswell but i cant think of his name. the beginning of the film is where one of the sons runs away from his arranged marriage. as you can imagine, the dad goes mad. the children want to live an english life.. have girlfriends, eat bacon sandwiches. the girl in the film ( meenah ) is a tomboy! but the dad wants them to be pakistani through and through. they tend to hide everything they do from there dad. this film gives a wonderful insight of the pakistani culture... "I Have Seen The Future, And It's Channel 3"
Review of Wild Palms by  sghawken

Advantages: Excellent gripping tale of murder and intrigue
Disadvantages: No UK release as yet.

...In 1993 weirdness was the order of the day; David Lynch had scored a phenomenal blockbuster in the shape of Twin Peaks. Now another highly acclaimed Director wanted a piece of the action. Wild Palms is the creation of Oliver Stone who bought us Platoon, JFK, and Wall Street. Wild Palms is set in the near future and like Twin Peaks it has a star studded cast. This Region 1 DVD features all five episodes of this classic series. 1- Everything Must Go Harry Wyckoff is a struggling patent attorney trying to make an acceptable living for his family in Los Angeles in 2007. When an old flame from his past turns up in the form of Paige Katz, a new world opens to him. Paige tells Harry that years ago her son was kidnapped by an underground group known as "The Friends". She asks Harry to help her to find her son, reluctantly Harry begins his... Read review
