TVP are one of those bands that seem to suddenly come out of nowhere, and that everyone ... more
has heard of except you. According to the press release they were Kurt Cobains favourite band, they inspired Creation Records, and they supported Pink Floyd off the back of a single called "We Know Where Syd Barrett Lives". Media hyperbole notwithstanding, TVP--led by Dan Treacy--were influential in their time and this return to the fray after an eleven year absence really is a cause for excitement. Lead single "All The Young People On Smack" is a sign that Treacy--who has suffered nervous breakdowns and imprisonment over the years--has thankfully not learned the art of musical compromise. Its a great tune, built from his raw Cockney vocal style and a basic, loping electro beat. Several other cuts on the album stand out in the same way, notably the catchy "How Did The Velvet Underground Get That Sound" and "She Can Stop A Taxi", but throughout the albums duration there are too many half-baked fillers for this to be an overwhelming comeback.--Paul Sullivan

such as "Psycho" (1960) and "The Exorcist" (1973), British movies such as "Quatermass and the Pit" (1958), "Italian", "Chinese", and Mexican films, and in particular Hollywood remakes of Japanese 'ghost' movies such as "Ringu" (1998)/"The Ring" (2002).
Advantages: PI character, Belfast setting, a cast of potentially interesting characters Disadvantages: Characters not really developed enough
mostly felt quite detached from the story.
Millar makes an effort to establish his detective as a sympathetic character ? a dark past, a father, an ex-wife and teenage daughter, a current romantic interest, thwarted literary ambitions, a sense of humour and regular discomfort from his piles ? but he stays a fictional character. Millar uses a lot of quotations from other literary works, Irish, American and English, 16th and 20th century, but for me the references to Raymond Chandler only made me feel disappointed that Karl Kane isn't really Belfast's answer to Philip Marlowe. The most emotionally moving scenes in the book involved Karl and his father, and these are not central to the main story.
I would probably try another book in this series if I came across one, but wouldn't actively seek one out. I am more tempted by the author ...
Advantages: Still to the high standards of the first film Disadvantages: 152 minutes in length!
happened in other Batman films as this film delivers a number of surprises especially some of the main characters in this film, who in some places don't necessarily act in the way that we have come to expect.
Naturally with Ledger's passing this has probably changed the focus of why people will go and see it. If you ask me, this is a high quality Batman film, strangely without 'Batman' in the title, that will be something that people will enjoy immensely. Be aware that this is a dark film throughout and a lot darker than the previous one. The set pieces are excellent, but in places can be quite violent in nature.
The film is also longer than the first; this one comes in at 152 minutes in length. ...
Advantages: Very crisp animation, great opening theme tune Disadvantages: English voice acting,
clear that her heart belongs to none other than?Dark.
So poor Daisuke has to juggle a mother who tries to kill him by laying traps around the house, an unrequited love, stealing artwork, transforming into Dark every time he thinks too much about Risa, and avoiding making himself look suspicious in front of Satoshi. He has his hands full!
The first DVD concerns Daisuke getting to grips with Dark, and with stealing these valuable pieces for his family.
This is DVD 1 of 7 and contains episodes 1 - 4.
Characters: Daisuke is adorable, and until you meet Dark you wonder how on earth he would carry out being a main character. His innocence perfectly balances Dark, so it does work, but you sometimes feel he is a bit weak.
Dark is everything Daisuke is not; tall, strong and good with the ladies. Frequently seen wearing form ...
CContains strong sexual violence and hard drugs theme.
