* Return of the Angel *
When the second series of Dark Angel was released in 2002 I waited until it came out on DVD and brought it straight away. As being completely glued to the first series the second looked even more action packed and even more intense. The first series ended on such a cliff hanger that the second series jumps straight into the action. On the last episode of the first series Max is captured and taken back to manticore after being shot. Everyone else thinks she's dead but Logan refuses to believe this. I like the way the second series starts everyone else Logan, Cindy, Sketchy are still living their normal lives, everyone thinks Max is gone and the audience did to but then we see Max in manticore. She is back where she escaped from 12 years ago and she rebells taking orders in any form possible. I think starting this way was good because it tells you abit more information of manticore which you didn't really get to see in the first series!
The second series introduces many more characters as the plot thickens. Max continues to look after her kind. While in manticore we are introduced to Alec (played by Jenson Ackles) who is a clone of Max's dead brother. Alec spends most of his time getting into trouble and having Max have to rescue him The other main character shown is a strange creature called Joshua ( Kevin Durand) who we understand was the first ever transgenic to be made who Max befriends while escaping manticore for the second time. Some time has past while Max has been in Manticore you can tell this by her appearance has changed. Her hair is now very long and straight (a dramatic change from her short, curled air in series one). Logan also has longish hair and has stubble. We later learn she has been in Manticore for 6 months. In the second series Max is even more feisty and sassy. She has more focus on keeping a lot more transgenic hidden which shows to be hard.
After escaping manticore again and destroying it for good leaving all transgenic free in Seattle, max is reunited with Logan only to discover that's she is a carrier of a virus targeted to kill Max. This gives the series a different angle. Throughout the series Max and Logan can no longer touch due to this virus which means they have a tense relationship. There are more troubles in this series for Max she has let loose all transgenic into the city and now has to be prepared to look after them. The second series is way more enjoyable but a lot more confusing too, there is a lot revealed but even more questions to be answered, and when the humans start to realise there are more than just humans in Seattle there is a hostile stand between humans and transgenic.

After the second series Dark Angel was cancelled as Channel Fox could not run two big budget shows so Joss Wheeldon's Firefly got the cut.Even though Dark Angel had a low rating it had the highest number of viewers than any other seires airred on Friday nights on the channel. Although it was cancelled it had a has a high availability with on-demand services and in 2006 sci-fi channels started repeating the seaons. Drak Angel can now be seen on E4, Dave and the Sci-fi channel on Sky. On a poll about bringing back series to Fox Dark Angel won 34.5% of the votes. Amoung this choice was Tru Calling 28% and Angel.
It is a shame that the Dark Angel series was cancelled. The second series is definatley has a lot of emotion and even more storylines to keep you interested. The charcters are more developed and introducing of new ones such as the manticore Creatures made it more fasanating. Max is even more kick ass in this series and the season is left on a huge cliff hanger of the start of a war between humans and transgenic, so obviously as it was cancelled you are left wondering what happens between them. However a absolute amazing series!!
Advantages: All Episodes From The Second Season Disadvantages: Limited Extras On The DVD
...second and last season of Dark Angel, picking up where season one ended. *Spoilers To Follow If You Haven't Seen Season One*
The season opens with Max still at Manticore where she was captured at the end of Season One. You get the sense that some time has passed as Max now has a new longer hairstyle, as does Logan.
There is the introduction of a new character in the form of Alec (Jensen Ackles) who is also a genetically enhanced being. Alec is ... ...yet another preview of the Dark Angel game.
Personal Opinion: The second series received a lot of criticism with comparisons to the first season, but personally I enjoyed it more.
It seemed to focus on other personalities within the series, and not just on Max and Logan. There are a number of outstanding episodes, the season finale included.
It was a shame that the show was cancelled as it was just starting to build itself up. There were new questions ...

...In Season 1 of Dark Angel we met Max, a genetically engineered soldier who was born and raised in the government's secret Manticore facility. They've all been bred for specific environments and tasks, and are far less able to cope with the real world than Max - and so she feels responsible for them. Max spends season 2 fighting for the right of these 'mutants' to live, whilst dealing with an impossible relationship with Logan (the man she ...
