DVD Description
All the episodes from the comedy wacky TV series in which an ordinary family tries to live their lives in medieval England, in the panicky days right before the beginning of the new millennium (1000 AD).
Advantages: Classic film with tons of extras Disadvantages: The cut scenes mentioned aren't included!
...The Film:
A modern classic, you chould already have seen this on the big screen. If you haven't the DVD is a complete package that provides the full widescreen release and plenty of background and making of information.
The journey of Kevin Spacey's character to self knowledge, respect and - as we're told in the first seconds of the film - death. Funny, dark and worthy of repeat viewings.
The DVD:
Not only the film, but also a complete directors commentary with many snippets of inside info on cut scenes, rewrites and plot changes. Also the cinema trailers, short 'making of' documentary and stroyboards.
Five Stars all the way!...

Advantages: Fun, fantasy, something for you and the kids Disadvantages: Younger kids might not follow the plot, effects aren't very special!
...Well I watched this series with a bunch of mates, and of us all, I was the only one that really enjoyed it!
We got it because one of said mates had remembered watching it when they were younger, and we had all been talking about the London Underground, and how interesting it was - up pops the suggestion we go get this out from Blockbuster, so we did...
As I said, I loved it! It was fantasy and fun!
It's got some ... "interesting" charcters, but none which were outlandish, even in their crazy landscape!
It all takes place in the London Underground, and as a result it can be a bit "dull" in appearance - i.e. quite dark scenes. As it was made in the early 1990's, frankly it doesn't have spectacular effects (although I suspect watching it as a kid at the time on the TV, it would have looked amazing!)
All in all, just a bit of fun...

...Finally, the BBC has released Blackadder onto DVD. Just like some of the new DVDs from the BBC (The planets and Walking with Dinosars) the quality of this is unrivalled.
The first Blackadder Series is set in the Medieval ages and is often the episodes that you may have missed as they seem to be the least replayed on television. They are not as good as the episodes from Season 2 set in the trenches however they are still teribly funny and certainly a decent addition to your collection.
The quality of the DVD itself is acceptable. Old television series do not seem to go to DVD that easily and there is certanly nothing outstanding about this transfer however it is still far superior to VHS!...
