Glossy reworking of classic horror film HOUSE OF WAX. A group of road-tripping Florida teenagers (Elisha Cuthbert, Chad Michael Murray, Paris Hilton, Robert Ri'chard, Jared...
more...Padalecki, and Jon Abrahams) set up camp near a small town where an abandoned wax museum draws their curiosity. Upon exploring the sinister cobwebbed space, they find that the waxworks are not only eerily lifelike, but that the entire museum--floor to ceiling--is actually made of the stuff! With echoes of THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, this blood-soaked gore-fest is designed to shock, horrify and disturb in equal parts--and does so admirably. The remake more than holds a candle to its predecessor, Andre de Toth's 1953 film starring Vincent Price (also included here).

The house of wax 2005 version is an excellently mind-blowing film of this year. Throughout the movie I was left on tenterhooks as to what would happen next, and the originality of the story line was like no other. The cleverness of the whole ' Turning real-life people into wax models for a wax-works museum' was simply extravagant. However, if you are squeemish in any way, this movie is not for you! You get to witness the crazy museum founder pour scolding hot wax onto one of the main characters of the movie, and see him scream in pain whilst the wax sets on him, not able to do anything about it. The whole story of all of the wax models in the museum then reveals the truth........... I actaully found this movie quite grousome, but it was excellent and, i actually found it quite amusing when the famous Paris Hilton died with a metal pole going right through her head! Well, you have to see it to understand what I mean!!! The ending was one of the greatest part of the movie. The great twist was really well-thought out and not at all predictable as many movies now adays are!!

The 1953 version of house of wax, was not as good as the 2005 version as I believe it is simply outdated and the special effects and graphics simply were not as good. There were also no characters that I reconised, and rather enjoyed the fact that in the 200 version, a famous celebrity 'Paris Hilton' appeared as one of the main characters. However, the 1953 version was still as imaginitive and mind-throwing as the updated 2005 version.
