After Christmas every year, I end up buying a fitness DVD and this year I was looking at all the ones available and Dance Floor Workout Vol 1 appealed to me more than any of the ones involving ex/current soapstars that probably don't even do that workout to stay at that size. From the packaging alone, DFW1 appealed because the music covers a wide range from multiple decades - Danni Minogue, Sugababes and Sister Sledge to mention a few. Upon opening the DVD, other artists included are En Vogue, East 17 and Candi Staton. The other reason why from the cover alone it appealed was because it was not boasting of how to get to a size 8/10 or how it changes your life. It merely says it will "help you lse weight, get fit and keep in shape". What more do you want from a fitness DVD?
The first time I tried it, I did wonder what huge a mistake I had made! I went straight into its twenty minute workout and after the warm up, was lost within seconds. Doing the routines (of which there is a choice of 20, 30, 40 or 60 minutes) straight off without learning the routines is a big no-no because there is no voice over to really explain what you're doing. Luckily, this amazing DVD has the option to view each song/dance alone with all the help you could need and then do the workout on its own. Over the past month I have tackled four songs at a time and repeated some of them if I couldn't get within one run through. I have now worked through each song on its own, taking an hour at a time to perform four songs at least once. That's what is brilliant about this DVD - the flexibility of the 4 length routines and pick and mix of your own.
Some of the routines are very difficult and take more than once going through to pick up. Even when you've done them all and then go back to it a few weeks later it isn't as easy as pie, but it doesn't take long to pick it back up. I'm a very clumsy, un-co-ordinated person and I can manage it! My legs ache after doing the dances and I don't get bored. It's easy to fit into your life and any free time you might have. Plus, the instructor doesn't talk over the routine. How annoying do you find it when you're doing a routine and the instructor talks over it so after a few times you know the conversation off by heart? Not here. No offence to the lady, but I don't know who she is and she doesn't annoy me, unlike Jade did!
The only real downside is that you can't do the warm up and cool down separetely so you have to fast-forward the 20 minute routine to get to it. Saying that, both cool down and warm up are very good and there's no toning section, which I detest. There are lots of stretching exercises which prepare you for the varied dance moves to come. This isn't simple aerobics, this is dance too.
Advantages: Great soundtrack Disadvantages: Not suitable for anyone - unless you trained as a westend dancer
...decent music, not the nightclub dance music offered by others, and this DVD certainly offers the music, but the choreography lets it down.
Most of the routines are so fast that you need to be really fit before you can even keep up, which defeats the object in my book.
Don't get me wrong - I didn't expect to be able to do all the routines straightaway, but I did expect to enjoy taking part and dancing along to the music.
The DVD offers you the ... ...want to spend 'watching' the dance and doing the odd few steps.
Frankly after a week of trying to persevere I have officially given up!
I have taken the DVD back to the shops and exchanged it for a sensible, enjoyable workout!
My advice - Unless you are already a size 10 or less, and have danced professionally for at least 5 years DON'T BOTHER WITH THIS DVD! ...

Advantages: Some good tracks Disadvantages: Routines are hard to grasp
...fit. This year was the Dance Floor Workout Vol. 1. I started off with doing the 20 minute workout which includes a warm up and cool down section. By the end of 20 minutes I was out of breath, my heart was pumping like mad and I had fallen over 3 times. I was going to give up right there and then but I didn't. The next day I decided to try and learn the routine first. That was better. The presenter takes you through the dance routine slowly, but not ...

Liberty x toned - the dancefloorworkout
Michelle, Kelly and Jessica join choreographer Hardy Laguda for a dance work out filmed on the beach in Spain.
This DVD is all danced based with.
It comes in three sections- The warm up (10 mins)
The main work out (30 mins)
The cool down (10mins)
As you would imagine the warm up starts slow getting your muscles ready for the main work out, you will stretch and tone your body gradually getting faster until you ready for the dance work out.
The main work out is lots of great dance moves, there are quite fast some of them so it take time until you can do the full routine with out any mistakes but Hardy goes over and over them so you can pick them up and perfect them as you go on.
Then the cool down again is stretching and toning and breathing just right to get your body back to ...
Advantages: good music, and simple routines. Disadvantages: cannot list any disadvantages, i love this workout!!
like many of us i got to a stage where i thought i should really make an effort with my health. i was looking for something cheap and fun and i found it in this dvd. the dvd has three sections 1. the warm up (helps get you in the mood) 2. the main work out and 3 the cool down section (where you crumble to a heap on the floor :-)). at first i was sceptical about doing this dvdworkout and i had to get over feeling a bit silly for dancing infront of the tv but in saying that, the presenter of this workout is so energetic that you cant help but get wrapped up in his enthusiasm and enjoy it! the warm up session puts together a few simple steps just to help you losen up and get in the mood, in my opinion i found these easy so i think other people will to, being able to master the steps early on gives you a confidence and feel good factor ...
