Daddy Day Care. (Film only review) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Plot. ============
Charlie Hinton has great plans for the future, starting with sending his son Ben to the states top Day Care facility now that he has his well paid job, and his wife Kim is returning to work as a lawyer, but as we all know even our best laid plans with great intentions don't always work out as we want them to.
The Storyline. ============= Charlie (Eddie Murphy) and his best friend Phil (Jeff Garlin) are high flyers in the advertising department of a food development company. Both have wives and young sons, and both plan to send there sons to the states best Day Care facility Chapman's Academy. Sadly the both lose there jobs, and with no new career opportunities arising they are forced into becoming stay-at-home fathers. Charlie and Phil are at the park one day with there sons and are talking away to one of the mothers at the park when she says something that gives Charlie a brilliant idea, if they are going to stay home looking after there own kids why don't they open a Day Care facility at Charlie's house, offering affordable Day Care for other families. After some convincing Phil agrees at Daddy Day care is soon advertising for business. When they eventually get some people to sign up for the day care they learn the hard way that it is not very easy having to care for several children all at the same time. They soon start to get a little better with it after a little advice from an old work college Marvin who just seems to be a natural when he calls for a visit, and before you know it, word of mouth is making them more and more successful. Soon they end up turning to Marvin and asking him to join them, as they need more staff due to the number of children they
are caring for and he agrees. Things are looking great for Daddy Day Care, which is more than can be said for The Chapman Academy. Its numbers are falling fast as parents move there children over to Daddy Day Care. The head mistress Miss Gwyneth Harridan (Angelica Huston) does not take this lightly, and soon she is out seeking revenge so that she can force them out of business and get her pupils back. Does she succeed in getting her revenge and her pupils back, is this the end of Daddy Day Care. That you will have to watch to find out...

The Acting/ My Opinion ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I feel that Eddie Murphy takes on the role of Charlie Hinton fantastically well, he manages to bring the family style comedy we are starting to get to see more of from him in films such as Dr Dolittle and The Nutty Professor into this film, which is perfect. He seems to be able to bring natural laughter into the children he staring with in this film and brings a great amount of humour to both the character, and the film. He has been extremely well teamed up with his co-star Jeff Garlin. Jeff also takes on his character as Phil excellently as well and gives him his own unique humour, which is always associated with Jeff's work, as we have seen many times before in Fat Albert, Sleepover and Curb Your Enthusiasm. Both Eddie Murphy and Jeff Garlin manage to not only portray there characters well and with great ease, but they seem to compliment each others acting abilities making the best friends scenario even more believable. Angelica Huston as usually is set as a strict and stern Head mistress and due to her looks and great acting abilities is perfectly cast for this role. Her straight looks and never smiling face that we always seem to see her star in roles as is yet again in perfect harmony with the character she is playing. This morbid and yet evil looking woman as a headmistress is perfect for her as we have previously seen in other films such as The Addams Family 1 & 2, The Witches and The Dead. She really does a fantastic job of making herself the 'Head Mistress of your worst nightmares' character. Steve Zahn takes on the role of the weird one from work, but who is great with kid's character excellently, bringing a strange yet very likable humour to his character. He seems to be able to adapt to his own weird yet wonderful humour to the fullest in this film, which we got to see a little of on other films, he has stared in such as Happy Texas and Riding In Cars With Boys, and this enables him to bring a brilliantly unique humour to the character Marvin. The children are all fantastic in the film and are all perfectly cats for there individual roles, each making there character stand out at the right time in there special moments of the film, and in my opinion were all extremely well cast.
Summary. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Altogether, I feel this is an extremely well directed film by Steve Carr, famous for directing other famous films such as Dr Dolittle 2, Next Friday and Rebound. He has made Daddy Day Care into a film that is both entertaining and interesting for all the family. It is a good light-hearted comedy with an interesting and not your everyday storyline film for all to watch. I personally also liked the fact that no only can you see the comedy outtakes of the film featurette in the special features menu of this DVD but you get to see some of them at the end of the film during the credits. On saying this I am highly recommending this film to all for a good family giigle together film.
My Favourite Scene. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ There were many very funny and memorable scenes in this film which made it quite difficult in deciding which was my favourite, but eventually I had to go with the scene where we see Eddie Murphy and Jeff Garlin dress up as carrot and a Broccoli Spear and begin a fight over who is the strongest when they are supposed to be entertaining the children.
