Anyone, who has kids or experience of them, will be rolling in the aisles at this film. I believe it to be the best family film, I have ever watched and being a mother of a young son, believe me I have watched quite a few in my time. The film is based around a very real issue that of finding reliable, safe and affordable childcare, which any parent these days will tell you is an ordeal.
STORYLINE *********** Eddie Murphy (Charlie) and Jeff Garlin (Big Phil) head up the cast as two out of work fathers, striving to find adequate childcare for their young sons. The only options being that of the Chapman Academy the most expensive and academic nursery in town, a nursery based on a caravan site run by an overweight chain smoking mother or a nursery based on a farm where they keep the children in the cellar. They come to the idea that the only option is to set up and run their own day-care centre.
They market themselves as “warm nurturing experience parents offering exceptional childcare”, well them being parents is true, however they are far from experienced, so you can imaging the amount of problems they find along the way. The children in their care range from Dillion who has separation anxiety, Max who is yet to be potty trained, Tony who is convinced he is a super hero and Becca who is a very inquisitive young lady. But not only do they have the problems of the children, they also have to deal with the sabotage from the director played by Anjelica Huston of the Chapman Academy.
As time goes on and the amount of children increase, they introduce Marvin to their staff, otherwise known as their old fellow co-worker that smelled the mail. Marvin is not a father, but believe it or not he has more control over the children and Charlie and Phil to shame. Charlie and Phil have the option of going back to as they called it a proper job, but soon realised that their hearts truly belonged in nursery care and seeing the children develop.
MAIN CHARACTERS Charlie played by Eddie Murphy
Eddie Murphy is a marvellous actor, he always brings a piece of himself to the roles in which he plays. I have always enjoyed the films in which he has appeared. Big Phil played by Jeff Garlin
Jeff Garlin is a larger than life character, who had me rolling up at his singing and guitar playing. When you put Eddie and Jeff together all you can get it a winning combination. The Kids
To go through the kids played in the film individually, would take simply forever. They were truly individual and expressed child traits that you will see in any child today. Each complimenting the other. The great thing about children is the range of facial expressions they come up with and you can never quite tell what they are going to do next, which is displayed in the outtakes at the end of the film. FAVOURITE PARTS
* When they first set up the childcare centre and we are first introduced to how in-experienced Charlie and Jeff are at dealing with children. * The discussion group where Charlie and Jeff ask the children what they want to get out of their time under their care.
DISAPPOINTING MOMENTS The advertising company work scenes, were a little drawn out.
OVERALL THOUGHTS This film was of an excellent standard and I felt compelled to write this opinion after reading other reviews on the film that simply did not do it justice.
It is a family comedy, full of good clean fun, which not only appeals to children, but also has underlying humour to appeal to all. I will be honest as a parent I do get bored with watching children’s cartoons etc, but this film appealed to both myself and my son.
I would definitely describe this film as a must see!

Not my kind of film I'm afraid but it was well described without giving too much away.
