I recently visited my local multiplex excited with the thought of seeing a good Eddie Murphy film after a lot of howlers from him recently.
Daddy Day Care is about two fathers who have been laid off from their jobs and decide to start a childcare centre in Murphy's front room. They come up with this idea as the only other 'Nursury' in the area is run by a Cruella DeVille type woman and involves the children learning latin and politics etc. So they start adertising "Daddy Day Care" and, at first, get a mixed response "what, you're both men!!" bu eventually people trust them enought to leave their children in their care.
The film basically follows from there, highlighting the amusing scenarios which arise when two adults look after eleven 4yr olds. Also the Cruella DeVille lady complains to the Child Protection Agency about them as they are stealing the kids from her institute!
This was a good film, and i chuckled many times throughout, however, if you go for the reason i did, Murphy, you may be disapointed, he is upstaged many times by the children in this film.
The personalities of the kids had been very well thought out and written. I would maybe watch this film again, under duress, as the scene where a boy called 'Flash (tony)' disapears while the child protection officer is there makes it worthwhile.
In conclusion a funny film with some good, clever writing and generally good acting from all round. It is not overly long at 100mins but does hold your attention quite well, i certainly wanted to watch it until the end!

Hi - I do like Eddie Murphy in these children's films (Dr Dolittles were both good), but have yet to see this one. I'll get it out on video I think, as it doesn't sound too bad. Tina xx
