PLEASE, PLEASE, if you are an aspiring DJ do not buy this DVD looking for advice and tips on becoming a world class DJ. Im sorry but this DVD is just awful. I myself am a music producer and can DJ to a certain extent. I learnt how to DJ from watching other people, which I personally feel is the best method of learning anything such as DJ'ing.
This DVD is the second sessions as they call it which tries to teach people how to DJ. This DVD tries and fails to teach up and coming DJ's how to scratch, mix and fade, fix tempo and match beats with irregualr tempo tracks. I have to say that firstly the way in which they try and teach this is simply awful. They go into far too much detail concerning the actual music science which is involved. For example when talking about tempo they use dictionary explanations in order to explain these elements of DJ'ing which completely loses people and bores people. There is hardly jo imagery which clearly shows people for example there hand placement when scratchig vinyls. I cant believe it but YES it simply ISNT there. What on earth they were thinking about when producing this movie but Im sorry they didnt hit on the correct formula. If however you are an existing DJ this DVD may be slightly helpful if you wish to learn more about the complex science of music and sounds and how these incorporate into advanced tasks relating to DJ'ing. However if you are learning to DJ though please stay away from this DVD. Oh and no special features or extended bonus footage.
