Cruel Intentions, one of my best films of all time! I watched this just the other night and i still never get tired of it as the performances from all the actors are extremely powerful. My favorite is of course by Sarah Michelle Gellar (who would of guessed? lol) mainly because i love her in Buffy but in this her character is a whole lot different.
Katherine, (Sarah Michelle Gellar) is Sabastians (Ryan Phillippe)step sister. They work as a team to make other peoples life a misery. Katherine was recently dumped by her now ex boyfriend Ronald, for an innocent good girl named Cecile (Selma Blair). Katherine is out for revenge and decides to change Cecile into a cheap slut! Katherine then gets Sabastian to sleep with Cecile to basically get her ready for the outside world. Katherine also bets her step brother that he cant get the new headmasters daughter, Annette (Reece Witherspoon) into bed. He takes the bet and if he wins, he gets to sleep with Katherine who he has wanted for a long time. However, if he loses the bet, Katherine gets to have his hot little car which he loves to bits. Annette is a challenge for Sabastian as she had written an article in Seventeen Magazine expressing that she is waiting to lose her virginity to the person she loves. Although Sabastian has slept with basically
every girl on campus, he finds her difficult but in the end wins her over. When he has the chance to sleep with her he backs out, he doesn't want to sleep with her for a bet as he is starting to realise that he really is in love with her.
Katherine already believes she is going to win the bet and get her step brothers hot little car, but Sabastian finally manages to to get into bed with Annette therefore wins the bet - to get Katherine. Sabastian has wanted Katherine for ages and it tears him up inside to know he cant have her and now he can as he won.
Since Sabastian has true feelings for Annette, he feels terrible and as he puts it 'F***ed Up'. Katherine manages to make him feel worse by talking to him as if he was pathetic and that hes not the same guy he used to be. Sabastian used to be the schools bad boy who sleeps with any nice looking girl and him and Katherine used to be a good team, only now Katherine has told him he will ruin his reputation. This scares Sabastian and results in him breaking up with Annette.
The film basically takes on from there, but you will have to watch it yourself to find out what happens. My favorite part of the film was probably the ending as i absolutely love the song 'Bittersweet Symphony' and during the scene at the end, it is playing all the way through.
The film is very dramatic and you can feel the tension when watching. The performances shown by Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Philippe and Reece Witherspoon are spine chilling and i would recommend everyone to watch either Cruel Intentions or any other film including these amazing actors.
Everyone knows i love Sarah Michelle Gellar in Buffy, but as i have mentioned before, her character in this is completely different. Instead of being the good girl who fights the evil, she basically is evil herself in this.
Although this is a fantastic film, i wouldn't recommend this to viewers under the age of 16. I am 14 and watch alot of over age films and my parents allow me to but if you do not like viewing sexual activity then i would think twice before watching. There is no nudity in the actual film but there are rude discussions and profanity is of course used.

From the start of the film, right through to the end, my eyes were glued to the screen and i am sure all of you who have seen it will agree when i say it is fantastic. To all those who haven't seen it, i would advise you do and you wont be disappointed!
Thanks for reading everyone and i am sorry about my op before as i only realised after the comments given that i had basically gave the film away! Sorry and i hope you all will like the re draft and give a better rating! Gareth xxxxx
