i first watched cruel intentions a few months ago because i had heard that it wasnt a very good film but i thought oh well i might as well see what its like. im so glad i did, i loved it and since have watched it many times.
it stars sarah michelle geller as catherine and ryan phillippe as her step brother sebastian. it all begins when a girl named cecil steals catherines boyfriend and catherine feels she must get revenge and she makes sebastian sleep with cecil in order to get back her boyfriend.
while all this is happening there is a new headmaster at their school and catherines makes a bet with sebastian that he couldnt sleep with his daughter, annette. because of sebastians sex appeal he thinks this will be a piece of cake. but shy virgin annette isnt standing for any of this, that is untill she lets herself go and sleeps with sebastian.
sebastian has feeling for her and they get stronger and stronger, the bet was if he could sleep with annette then catherine would sleep with sebastian, his step sister, uurrrrrhhh!!
its all very sexual and there is the famous part when catherine and cecil share a lesbian kiss!! another urrrrrrhhhhh!!
anyway sebastian keeps a journal of all of this and annette finds out about the bet and they split up. catherine, being the bitch that she is feels she nedds to stir things up and gets a friend to go and sort sebastian out after she has lied by saying he had hit her. sebastian has a fight and ends up getting knock down by a taxi and he dies.
at the funeral, at the school, annette meets catherine for the first time in the toilets and annette knows who she is because she has read sebastians journal and her and cecil publish the journal and give everyone at school a copy the journal is called "cruel intentions"
i really do love this film and i recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good old romantic film.
How helpful would this review be to a person making a buying decision? Rating guidelines
Production Year: 2000 - Drama - Director: Giuseppe Tornatore - Original Language: Italian - Classification: 15 years and over - Starring: Monica Bellucci, Giuseppe Sulfaro, Luciano Federico, Matilde Piana
Production Year: 2004 - Drama - Director: Nick Cassavetes - Original Language: English - Classification: 15 years and over, 12 years and over - Starring: Rachel McAdams, Ryan Gosling, Gena Rowlands
I rated this FH for two reasons. Firstly, you told the whole story - so there's no need for anyone to go and watch
it now! Secondly, you said very little about what you liked/disliked about the film.
Advantages: sarah michelle gellar, lesbian kiss, cool story Disadvantages: reese witherspoon and the ending (not its quality but the fact that a certain person gets her commeupance)
