This is teeming with up & coming teen stars such as Sarah Michelle Gellar, Reese Witherspoon & Ryan Philippe. The film is based around the book Les Liaisons Dangereux (you may have seen another film based on it – Dangerous Liaisons with Glenn Close). This time the story has been moved to present day & centred around very rich high school students. Gellar & her step-brother, bored with their rich, easy lives, manipulate others lives. They make a bet as to whether the stepbrother can seduce the new headmaster’s daughter. She has pledged to stay celibate. Gellar, in particular, is excellent as the devious, two-faced sister. This is not your typical teen flick, there is a definite edge to it. As obligatory with films of this type, there is also an excellent soundtrack. I got this film as I’d seen a trailer & it definitely lived up my expectations – a wickedly entertaining film with an excellent story
