'Cruel Intentions 3' is the second recreation of 'Cruel Intentions', that was originally a film production based on the french book 'Dangerous Liaisons'.
This film has almost no relation to the plot of the first film, unlike the 3nd that was almost a complete remake.
This film is based around the life of a teenage girl, Cassidy Merteuil, who happens to be the cousin of Kathryn Merteuil, the sassy, unyielding minx from the first film.
The themes of the film remain the same, portraying seduction, pleasure, pain and betrayal amongst the lives of a group of american teenagers. This movie sees Cassidy (Kristina Anapau), encourage two boys at her Santa Barbara school, to compete against each other in an attempt to 'pull' other girls when they concoct a plan to get her in to bed. She gives them the seemingly impossible task of trying to win over two girls that are already in steady relationships, one of them being engaged.
One of the boys succeeds in his task of seducing the woman, whilst the other is left taking all possible (and somewhat unethical/immoral) routes to try and fulfil his side of the bet.
Cassidy and Jason (the successful boy), strike up a relationship leaving Patrick fuming and smarting over his loss/betrayal by Cassidy.
I found this film enthralling and somewhat addictive, I've watched it 5 or 6 times already. Whilst I don't think any amount of seduction and contriving storylines will bring it to the par of the original 'Cruel Intentions' movie, it was still a good film to watch and the twists and turns of the story will entertain anyone that is a fan of either the book or either of the other films.
It's worth watching and has an amazing soundtrack to go with it. With the songs perfectly reflecting the themes and moods of the film.
