As "Cruel Intentions" is one of my favourite movies, on hearing about the second one I immediateley thought I must see this movie, although I did wonder how a sequel could be made after such a dramatic ending in the original film. I later found that the film was a prequel and so thought it would be interesting to see.
*The Characters*
Sebastian Valmont (Robin Dunne) - Sebastian has moved to New York to live with his father and his stepmother after being thrown out of another private school. Sebastian wants to forget his past and start afresh after falling in love with the head master's daughter Danielle but can Sebastian overcome his wicked ways after meeting his manipulative stepsister Kathryn who has dug deep to find out about his true past.
Kathryn Merteuil (Amy Adams) - Kathryn is a rich, manipulative tart who likes to mess with other people's lives. She is the most popular girl in school and is also the class president.
Danielle (Sarah Thompson) - Danielle is the head master's daughter and is a typical goody two shoes (possibly a bit like Annette Hargrove in the original) She falls in love with Sebastian but then she soon starts to show her true colours.
Cherrie (Keri Lynn Pratt) - Cherrie is new money. Shes totally naive and dosn't have a clue and Katheryn has her wrapped around her little finger. (She could also be compared with Cecille Coldwell) Cherrie is hated by Kathryn and so is a targetted victim.
*The Plot*
Sebastian is thrown out of his school and so is forced to go and live with his father because his mother is ill. His father lives in New York with his new wife who is rich and her daughter, Kathryn. When Sebastian arrives he can't believe the amount of his allowance and the servants and decides to change his life and start anew. He meets a pretty girl who he later finds out is a girl called Danielle who is the head master's daughter. Kathryn isnt happy about Sebastian and so sets out to destroy his life. Cherrie is new money and Katheryn hates her. She is forced to like her though so that her family will fund money into the school. Cherrie is a total nerd and thinks that Kathryn is great. Kathryn tries all sorts of tricks on Sebastian but none of them seem to be working. She finally plays with his mind by bringing up the past saying that he can't change and that they're two of a kind. Sebastian tells her to stuff off and goes to Danielle's house. Kathryn picks up the phone and calls Danielle. When Sebastian arrives at Dannielle's house they talk about their relationship when all of a sudden Kathryn bursts out of the closet. He and Danielle sart kissing and invite Sebastian to join them. Next you see Sebastian in the car and he then opens a parcel from Danielle. Its the famous journal that plays a huge part in the original movie. The ending to the film however proved dissapointing but I won't ruin it. I found this film disappointing in the following ways:
This film used a lot of the lines from the original which I felt proved dissappointing. Classic lines like " You know you could be a model, too bad you're not sexy" are used but don't have the same effect. At one point a full scene was remade in which Cherrie went to first base with the same classic lines but this time in a night club with Court.
This film featured remakes of characters from the original (maybe its just me looking too far into things but they are extremely similar!)
The quality of acting wasnt as good as the first movie but wasn't totally disappointing.
I would reccommend this film to people who:
Liked the first film and are intersted to know how sebastian and kathryn became the people that they were.
Those who enjoyed the storyline to the first film as I felt this one was very similar.

Thanks for the breif run-down of the storyline without giving too muhc away. Parts of this op reads almost identical to one written by 'leeds_united_17'

Advantages: Some funny moments, good chemistry between the female leads. Disadvantages: Gross-Out humour might not be to everybody's taste.
