Can chinese people really fly? of course not, but I watched the whole film without taking notice of this minor technicality. The scene in the trees was superb and the effects overall were very well done. The scenery was breathtaking.
The atmosphere of the film was tremendous, often hillarious and although nothing like water margin and monkey, I could not help feeling this tinge of nostalgia during the fight scenes.
If you are in the mood for a film that you can simply sink into the sofa and watch, without too much thought, this may suit. Its pure escapism and mellowed edges will hold you captive.
I watched it with my family (2 kids and a spouse) and dog, whilst eating doritos and hot chili dip.
