I saw this film when it first came out on video and I just wish I'd seen it at the cinema because it must have been amazing on the big screen. I immediately loved the fact that there are such strong female characters, you don't often see good girl fights and the fact it was martial arts added an elegance and grace, making it very watchable. The scenes where they twirl up 50 feet in the air and fly around are stunning.
It was one of the first films I've ever watched with subtitles and the simple dialogue was easy to follow. I think the fact you can hear them speaking in another language adds a lot to the atmosphere, and I think the Hollywood "dubbed" version would probably lose a lot of the film's ambience. I'd definitely recommend watching the subtitled version.
Yes, the plot leaves something to be desired and some of the characters are a bit weak but the sheer beauty and delicacy of this film makes up for all that. The originality of the fight sequences really makes Crouching Tiger stand out. Loved it.
You would be rated a lot higher if you had given some information about the plot itself. Nicely written and with more detail would be a very helpful op. Hope I haven't offended. Steve.

More info on plot, characters, acting etc required for a higher rate I'm afraid. An interesting read though, cheers, Timmy.
