Before I begin the necessary praise of this film, which I warn you will be unforgivably full of such words as classic, excellent, genius, and superb, I want to put give my major concerns about this film.
These concerns do not relate to the actors or acting, the storyline, even the direction. They are concerned with the one hundred percent guarantee that this film will not be seen by anywhere near the proportion of the population who would thoroughly enjoy it. Firstly it has recieved only a limited release. WHY?????? It has received universal praise, and is a true masterpiece. It is a real shame that it can not be viewed by all. NUfortunately I already know the reason for its only partial release. Sadly many many people will be put off this film for grosely unfair reasons. As anyone who has seen it to explain what the film is about and why it is a modern masterpeice, and why they wont shut up about it, and they will tell you it is a martial arts flick, with a romantic theme. Lets face it, those looking for a 'chick flick' (sorry to those who that phrase offends) will be put off by the thought of martial arts, and those looking for an action flick will be put off by the though of wet romatic notions. The sad thing is that while this attitide will deflect many viewers from watching this flick, it is infact the complete opposite of the true situation.
These film will satisfy both those looking for breathtaking action sequences, anmd those looking for a truely superb love story, worthy of Shakespearion comparisons. This film will truely be considered one of the greats.
So where to begin my praise for this film. It is surely Ang Lee's best production, though that does not do this film justice. The acting performances of all are of the highest class, but Chow Yun Fat is positively frightening. That is one seriously HARD bloke.
The fight scenes throughout this film are awe inspiring. The timing is impeccable, and whoever was responsible for the choriography must surely be inline for awards. The scenes are fast and furious keeping all action fans drooling with satisfaction, with those of a slightly more artistic disposition will be dumb struck by the timing and rythem of the routines, which are on the verge of dance.
The point I must make is that this film compares well with any film you could choose. Despite its much broader and deeper plot than its martial arts rivels, this does not detract from the fight scenes which are, as stated, awesome. However, this film then has the ability to appeal to a much wider audience, due this plot. It is a superbly told romantic tale of two lovers who are kept apart by their honour, which is perhaps sadly misplaced.
I dont want to give any more away. What you must realise is that this film really will appeal to all. If you are still reading this review, and you have not seen the film yet, you are clearly at least interested in it, and so you must go. You willnot be dissappointed. No matter what age, sex or interests define you, you will leave the cinema knowing you have been only of the disgustingly low number of people who have seen and appreciated a true masterpeice of film!

Sorry I couldn't give your review more than Fairly Helpful as you didn't really give any information on the basic plot of the film or tell us why you think it's so good. A little more info would be nice... SB.
