I watched this film after reading the book and found it extremely annoying as it wasn't as good as the book. The book was very good but as a film, it was the biggest disappointment since the Millenium dome!
I have watched many Cantonese and other chinese films as I have watched them all at my friends house, however what I found also annoying is that they always seem to use these days only Chow Yun Fast and Michelle yeoh like they are the only chinese actors in the world, god it is annoying. I mean they were good actors in this but the story just didn't go well as a movie and the stereotypical way of trying to make a traditional chinese film, but in a commercialised way for the western audience, was to me , seen as boring and over rated.
The sotry wasn't that greatly done justice and although the special effects were good, I felt, they were mostly there to attempt to try and get the audience to wow, chinese Kung Fu when there are less commericialised movies out there that are a million times better!
I am sorry if no one agrees wiht me, but I just felt, it wasn't a movie that i left pondering about.
