Creepy Crawlie Pets - Wonder Gecko DVD

Advantages: Moments of genius and invention - rare in horror movies!
Disadvantages: Dubbed voice acting, inappropriate soundtrack

...of these parts and surely one of the most original - if inexplicable – gimmicks of a movie such as this is the control that Jennifer (played by Jennifer Connelly – mmmm!) has over the insect world. It’s not enough that she has strange premonitions or a rich daddy – to be able to master the creepy crawlies has literally dozens of uses! As the Professor (played by Donald Pleasance) tells her – “you could do wonderful things”. Well – she sort of does. A firefly guides her to a murder victim in a moment of low-tech but effective SFX work. During a taunting worthy of a Frenchman to King Arthur, she suddenly becomes calm and says – seemingly to her aggressors – “I love you. ...This is a very watchable film which the kids will love. The animation is great as you might expect from Disney. The story line is a sort of creepy crawlies meet the magnificent seven. Instead of the heroes being a bunch of outlaws and misfits they are, of course, a bunch of outcast bugs, stars of a travelling bug circus who are mistaken for heroes by the well meaning but hapless ant Flik. Flik is outcast from the ant colony when his well intentioned enthusiasm jepodises the grain harvest which must be paid to the evil bullying grasshoppers (taking the part of the nasty Mexican bandits) but vows to make ammends by bringing back some fighters to see off the grasshoppers. Dispite bringing back the bug circus all turns out well in the end with the grasshoppers being seen off and Flik getting the princess ant.... Read review

The boxset includes 4 DVD's, which includes the complete series 1 and another 4 DVD's which includes the complete series 2. SERIES 1 Series 1 boasts an impressive 13 episodes, which follows the day to day antics of 7 workers in Dusseldorf, Germany. In series one, we meet, the "Magnificent Seven", composed of Barry (Timothy Spall),Dennis ( Tim Healy), Neville ( Kevin Whately) , Oz( Jimmy Nail),Wayne( Gary Holton), Bomber ( Pat Roach ) and Moxey (Christopher Fairbank) . Series 1, Episode 1 If I were a Carpenter - Oz,Dennis and Neville make their way to Dusseldorf, only problem is , they are all brickies, yet they are only looking for 2 brikies.
