The Blue Tongue Skink - like a snake with legs!
Review of Member Advice on Lizards by  HighPriestess

Advantages: Friendly, easy to care for, long lived
Disadvantages: Can be expensive to buy and set up, not always readily available.

..."Like a snake with legs!" is a comment you will hear a lot as the proud owner of a blue tongue skink. These lizards have very snake like heads and bodies with very small legs. I love reptiles and the latest addition to my collection is Tia, an 2 year old, 18 inch long Irian Jaya. The blue tongue skink gets its name (unsurprisingly) from its brilliant blue tongue. The bright blue contrasts starkly with the pink inside of the skink?s mouth, and if startled or threatened, the skink will puff itself up, open its mouth wide and display its bright blue tongue. This is rarely seen in captive bred skinks as they tame quickly. Skinks are not found in pet shops as commonly as lizards such as geckos, iguanas and bearded dragons, which is a shame, because they make terrifically good pets. They are readily tamed, easy to handle and live... Read review

A brilliant pet carrier at a great price!
Review of Argos Blue Pet Carrier by  SusanLesley

Advantages: Decent size, good price, great for Mew, looks good
Disadvantages: None for us

...For those of you who have enjoyed stories about our cat Mew you're in luck because here he is again! As some of you know he was a stray who adopted us in May of this year and has given us lots of laughs and lots of fun. In turn we have looked after him well, feeding, grooming, worming and keeping the fleas away. We decided that our next step had to be getting him electronically chipped. We needed to be certain that, if anything ever happened to him when he was out exploring and hunting, we could be contacted. To get this done we made an appointment with the vet and then needed to purchase a pet carrier. We started by looking in Pets at Home where the ones we wanted were between £20 and £25 so we thought that we would take a look in the Argos book and found an even better carrier for a much cheaper price! We chose the Blue Pet... Read review

SKINK in a TIN
Review of Baxters Cullen Skink by  proxam

Advantages: Tasty and filling
Disadvantages: Expensive

...I don't usually eat much tinned soup - it's so easy to make your own and it's a lot tastier too, so why bother? Well, sometimes you haven't got the time, or the inclination (or the ingredients), so it's always handy to have a tin or two on standby. This is especially true of CULLEN SKINK. What's a Cullen? Cullen is a fishing village in Banffshire, on the Moray coast in North-east Scotland, where this dish originates from. And a Skink? According to my Scots dictionary, skink originally meant a shin, or knuckle of beef - more especially a soup made from shin of beef. It also is a general term for broth, or stock. In this case though, the main ingredient is smoked haddock. Now the trouble with making a dish like this for yourself is having the ingredients to hand. Potatoes, flour, salt-n-pepper, parsley etc - no... Read review
