After leaving a party in hope of trying to get to an area where George Clooney is supposed to be, Kate ends up at the London underground, after failing to have the patience to hail a cab. She falls asleep, waiting for the train, only to awake to the entire place closed for the night. Its just her luck that one last train passes through. She starts to relax, thinking of what could soon be happening. This is quickly spoilt by the appearance of her co-worker Guy.He aggressively tries to rape her. But theres still one other presence, waiting. Ready to put Kate through the worst night imaginable.
First off the film has a perfect setting, the underground. Many people dislike it and find it creepy and suspicious anyway. The idea of being trapped in it over night is definitely perfect for a horror film.
However i disliked the initial story of how Kate ended up in the situation. There is no look into her past, to help the audience associate with her, have a part in, and share her feelings of being alone and trapped. Also i found it almost too convenient Kate being locked in, and when a final train pulls up. In my opinion horror films should not be that convenient, when it is, the story can become less frightening and believable. But once you stop questioning, and just watch the film it can become enjoyable.
The effects, gore, and blood were very realistic, and made the action alot better. The creature,Creep was made up quite well, scary in its own way. For me personally, when the film was in full flow, i found the creature to get annoying though. I just wanted someone to hurry up and kill it, putting a stop to that constant screeching and infuriating innocence i thought the lack of speech gave it.
Parts of the film i did find truly quite scary and stick with me quite well. One of the chapters of the film, which is set in some sort of deserted hospital, I felt was chilling, freaky and quite gory. Although, this part was easily confusing, when trying to show some of the creeps background and childhood, which was not mentioned again, or explained further. I think this and maybe a few other scenes gave a real reason for why The Creep is as an 18.
Kate spends the night fighting against the creep to keep her life, meeting a homeless couple and their dog, and the man who lasts with her, but is beaten just before the end. The ending scenes to creep, i thought were very good. Battered, bleeding, bruised and scarred Kate sits down in the underground after the horrific night, to find its morning, with people carelessly passing her. None of them knowing what had happened.
Creep was definetly appreciated though as a successful British horror. It Debuted at the 2004 Toronto International Film Festival and featured at the London Fright Fest.
I do reccommend watching creep, but if you are seriously into horror films, i doubt you will find it all that exciting or new. Already two years after creep was released, horror has developed a lot and become way more gory, making people squirm and very very scared, even throw up. Creep is already getting close to being left behind, but that is not the creators fault.

Advantages: Cushing and Lee at the height of their horrific powers. Splendid story. Excellent direction. Disadvantages: The creature when fully revealed, but isn't on screen that long anyway.
