Having just returned from a trip to Manchester to visit family I got home and put my feet up ready to enjoy a film. The one I had chosen was Creep, a horror my son had recommended. I do like a good horror movie but this was not one of the best I have seen.
It starts with the lead role Kate (Franka Potente) at a drugs and drink fuelled party announcing to everyone that she knows where George Cluny is going to be drinking that night and that she is going to offer herself to him. Kate has organised a lift from a friend but when she realises that her friend has gone on without her she heads out to flag down a cab, unable to get a cab her nightmare begins.
As Kate is forced into taking a tube train and just makes it there in time to catch the last train, she dozes off and when she awakens she finds she is alone on the train or so she thinks. One of the guys that were at the party she had left suddenly appears and tries to rape her but she has worse than him to fear. Out of the darkness someone or something comes to her aid but she soon realises that all is not well and what saved her from the rape will soon be after her itself.
This creature lives in the underground and Kate is locked in beside it with only a couple of homeless junkies for help. Will she and her new found friends be able to escape the beast?

Over all this movie could be classed as no better than alright. My son rated it highly so maybe it is more appealing to people his age (mid thirties) than to people my age (mid sixties). It certainly had its share of scares and at times had the potential to burst into a quite decent movie but it never really did. I prefer my horrors to be about real people committing murders or whatever rather than make believe creatures and mutants so perhaps that had a lot to do with me not liking the movie as much as my son did too.
I would think that if you like your horror sc-fi then you will enjoy this movie otherwise you will probably side with my thinking that it was ok but no where near the best you have seen. I will be saying that I recommend to others below but I will be recommending the movie to those I have mentioned rather than to everyone!
Thanks for reading - Bill.

Advantages: Cushing and Lee at the height of their horrific powers. Splendid story. Excellent direction. Disadvantages: The creature when fully revealed, but isn't on screen that long anyway.
