Paul Haggis is a new name to me which I am ashamed to admit because he is a fellow Canadian with a very impressive CV.
Previously, much of his work as writer, director and producer had been for TV with titles such as the Tracy Ullman Show, Thirtysomething, LA Law, The Love Boat, Due South and EZ Streets.
He took the leap into film in 2000when he wrote the script for the award winning Clint Eastwood and Hilary Swank film, Million Dollar Baby. Last year, Haggis became the first member of the Academy to have written two Best picture winners (both Million Dollar Baby and Crash)back to back.

Advantages: Great acting, cast and storylines Disadvantages: Jumps from story to story, ending
is police officer John Ryan whos dad (Bruce Kirkby) is suffering from an illness which his son is struggling to get treatment for.
Terrence Howard and Thandie Newton play a movie guy and his wife who suffer a racial attack at the hands of Matt Dillon. There is also another story surrounding a film being made which links to these characters.
Other stories relate around a locksmith, a shop owner and other police officers one of whom is Det. Graham Waters played by Don Cheadle. His story starts at the beginning of the film with a car crash and he is linked to several of the other characters along the way.
The film is set in LA over 2 days and brings to light the racial prejudices and stereotypes that are common in modern life. Some of the scenes are shocking, particularly a scene about a young girl. I won't go into detail as I don ...
