BAD 2 THE BONE Review ofCradle To The Grave DVDby
LostWitness
Advantages: Some good stunts Disadvantages: Very tired formula - DMX is a tw*t
...aside, it’s all nonsense really. Cradle 2 the Grave is mindless cinema fun from start to finish, and if you expect anything else you’ll be utterly disappointed. The whole thing has spirit, but no flair and there is only really one word that springs to mind – and that’s “trash”.
The trouble with films like this is that they have to work incredibly hard to innovate and in spite of a few little touches, Cradle 2 ... ...in a Doctor Who story. Cradle to the Grave is an exercise in DMX shamelessly trying to portray himself exactly as he would like us to see him – acting is never a component that ever really comes into consideration. The ridiculous thing is that he never actually looks cool. Someone really should tell him that black shell suit bottoms and Timberland boots are so not trendy.
I’m also fast coming to the conclusion that I don’t like ...

Cradle 2 The Grave manages to deliver exactly what the promotional campaign promises – thrills and spills in no small quantity. Sadly it delivers this and nothing else, as it quickly becomes apparent that it is simply another excuse to have DMX and Jet Li kicking people and blowing stuff up.
Don’t get me wrong – I didn’t watch this film expecting anything else, nor did I especially want anything else. As films to watch to kill a couple of hours ... ...fast-moving (if contrived and broken) plot with some now rather clichéd characters. The big Hard-as-nails black guy who robs banks by day but is a doting father by night, the edgy but loyal sidekick, the gutless selfish wise guy and of course Jet Li, who is morally untouchable, heroic and seemingly invincible.
One recurring theme I often find in Jet Li’s films is that he is by far and away the best fighter in any of them. I often feel he is portrayed ...

Advantages: A must for all action junkies Disadvantages: lacks in a few places but who cares
Dmx and jet li put together a "high adrenaline surging thriller"
Jet Li has mastered the technique of cool fighting to such a degree that even with one hand in his pocket he can flatten men twice his size. It is impossible not to be impressed. There is a ritual to these Joel Silver productions. Car chases, explosions, stunts and gun battles have been honed to a level of expertise that retains the highest standard. Action pictures have become an ... ...plot are less important, as long as the look is right. DMX is a rap singer, who appeared with Steven Seagal in Exit Wounds, directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak, who also directs this. He is a tall thin black man, with a shaved head and a look of anger in his eye. He plays Tony Fait, a single parent thief whose diplomatic skills take the form of naked and, at times, plain stupid aggression. Li is Su, a mystery man from Taiwan. His skills are exquisite ...

Advantages: Jet Li Vs Mark Dacascos,Kelly Hu Disadvantages: DMX,Tom Arnold, crap fights
...Li & a rapper movie.
Cradle 2 the Grave, the latest from 'Director' Andrzej Bartkowiak, stars Jet Li & DMX-with the ultra cool Mark Dacascos (Brotherhood of the Wolf) on bad guy duties.
The basic plot is this-DMX is an improbable robber-only stealing from bad guys(?!), is a doting dad (with standard butter wouldn't melt cute kid daughter).
We first see him doing a high tech robbery & stealing some 'black diamonds'-which agent Jet Li is also after.
... ...guy Mark Dacascos, who then looks up the bad guy manual & kidnaps DMX's daughter to get them back.
Naturally, the two team up to stop bad boy Dacascos-running into the always annoying Tom Arnold-as one of DMX's contacts-along the way.
As it turns out, the back diamonds are a dodgy power source for nuclear weapons and-shocker-Jet Li has a 'history' with our villain!!
The action in this movie should really be first class-how can it not be with two ...

Advantages: Stars a kung fu legend jet li and american rap star DMX Disadvantages: the stroyline has been done to death!!!!!!!
The film cradle to the grave is a film, which combines the genres of hip hop and kung fu. It stars Jet Li and American rapper DMX. The simple plot is that DMX is in a group of thieves that steal some jewels but they steal the wrong ones as they are wanted by Jet Li and some evil guy. The plot basically develops from this. It is really an original film and there isn’t much new with it. Same basic plot and the film originality lets it down. Andrzej ... ...enjoyed these you will love cradle to the grave. But the similarities do get tiring. The sound track for this is very good with tracks from Eminem, Joe Budden, Obie Trice And of course DMX with the smash hit X gonna give to ya. Overall the movie is only for the die hard fans that love DMX and Jet Li the soundtrack is for all the people that love hip hop music. ...

Advantages: jumpy, not the usual type of ghosts Disadvantages: can't think of any
...glasses to see the ghosts so it is interesting how they incorporated that into the film this time around by having the characters having to wear glasses.
The screenplay for this 2001 version was written by Neal Marshall Stevens ("Hellraiser: Deader") and Richard D'Ovidio ("Exit Wounds").
The soundtrack added to the spooky and jumpy feeling of the film and the original music was composed by John Frizzell ("Ghost Ship", "Cradle 2 the Grave").
"Thirteen Ghosts" was classified as 15 in the UK, R in the USA and MA in Australia.

DVD Description
Jet Li once again joins up with a musical costar in Andrzej Bartkowiak's thrill-a-minute CRADLE 2 THE GRAVE. Li was introduced to American audiences as the villain in Richard Donner's LETHAL WEAPON 4, which featured former Crystals lead singer Darlene Love. Li got his first English-language starring role in Bartkowiak's ROMEO MUST DIE, with the late Aaliyah and rapper DMX. The director has reteamed Li and DMX as men on opposite sides of the law who are forced to work together in CRADLE. DMX plays Fait, a powerful man with a deep love for black diamonds but a deeper love for his daughter (who gets kidnapped). Li is Su, a Taiwanese agent--Fait calls him the Kung Fu James Bond--who has come to Los Angeles to find the stones and capture his former partner, Ling (Mark Dacascos), who is after the gems as well. The action is fast and furious as Su sides with Fait to battle helicopters, trains, fancy cars, motorcycles, tanks, and flying ATVs in rings of fire and pouring rain. High-tech heists and heavy heat send the action quotient soaring while Tom Arnold supplies comic relief and karate hottie Kelly Hu adds mystery and romance (along with awesome martial arts stunts).
