This means that you either need to wait and get a new copy of this for £9.99 from Play.com, or go looking elsewhere. The Amazon Marketplace has copies of this story on its own from £6.29, or eBay has it from 49p. If you're a new fan of "Cracker", the Amazon marketplace offers a VHS version of this story and One Day a Lemming Will Fly", the one that will explain ... ...£4.99, which is well worth the price for two great dramas.
There is nothing to be gained by buying "To Be A Somebody" on DVD as opposed to on VHS as none of the versions on DVD, either the older version or the soon to be released version, contain any extras thanks to the age of the original material, this having been shown on TV way back in 1993 when no-one thought to save material for that purpose. What a cracker Review ofCracker - To Be A Somebody DVDby

Advantages: Excellent acting by Robbie Coltrane, Robert Carlyle and Christopher Eccleston Disadvantages: Chilling
...viewing figures over 10 million, Cracker was one of the most popular drama series of the 1990s. It is not difficult to figure out why. Excellent scripts by Jimmy McGovern and others are topped by some of the strongest actors there are, particularly Robbie Coltrane, Christopher Eccleston, Barbara Quinn and in this particular episode, a chilling performance from Robert Carlyle. 24 episodes were made between 1993 and 1996. There is a rumour that Cracker ... ...the role - hopefully this is true.

Jimmy McGovern wrote the script for this episode. He is well-known for his hard-hitting scripts, which are usually based around the working classes and the social system - his background is very much working class, raised in a large family in an inner city area. As well as Cracker, he also writes the script for Shameless.
