* CoronationStreet *
CoronationStreet is a British television soap which has been running since 9th December 1960. The street is set in "Weatherfield" a fictional location in Manchester. The soap is filmed in Manchester , United Kingdom. The show was created by Tony Warren and developed by Granada Television. The producers are Kim Crowther and Kieren Roberts.
The soap is shown on Mondays ( 7:30 - 8:00pm and 8:30-9:00pm) , Wednesdays (7:30-8:00pm) and Fridays (7:30-8:00 and 8:30 - 9:00pm). Up until recently the soap was shown on a sunday Night , however the Sunday Night show has been replaced by a "double" episode on a Friday Night. The CoronationStreet omnibus can be seen on ITV2 (sky channel 118) on Sundays.
The Soap has a well known pub ; The Rovers Return , Audrey's hair salon, Rita's corner shop , Peacocks Butcher , Roy ...
Advantages: Good drama even though classed as a Soap Disadvantages: can get boring some times
Like many others of my age, we have been brought up on CoronationStreet. In the 60s Granada TV was given a license to operate and it would depict the people of the North West.
Tony Warren wrote the script and submitted it and it was to be called Florizel Street. However as this was a well know name of disinfectant it was changed to CoronationStreet. (Actually the set is in Granada Studios in Quay Street, Manchester)
Now CoronationStreet lies between Rosamund Street and Victoria Street and is no longer than a mere 150 yards with only a handful of properties in the Street.
Here I will give you a quick introduction to who lives were and at what number, then I will go into the current plot, but be aware that this could be out of date very quickly as it is a fast acting soap.
The Rovers Return - The hub of the soap, I have ...
Advantages: Exciting storylines and interesting characters Disadvantages: sometimes is a little boring
Rather than try and do a review of the soap which I am sure most people know about.I have choosen to do an A-Z of The Street.
