The film about competing for the olympics. Derice Bannock is one of the fastest sprinters in Jamaica and is about to win his place in the 1988 Olympics. He wants to follow in his fathers footsteps. When at the trials for the olympics an unexpected accident happens.
It ends in desperate measures as Derice wants to be a success and he turns to Irv Blitzer (John Candy) for help. Irv was a Olympic champion bobsledder. Irv wants nothing to do with the idea of becoming the coach of a Jamaican bobsled team. When Irv decides to give the lads a chance they go to Calgary. The other countries dislike them. The thought of the hottest country in the world having a bobsled team disgraces some people.
Sanka Coffie (Doug E Doug) has to be my favourite character in the film. He plays a simple guy who makes everyone laugh. He is the comedian of the film in my eyes. He has a lucky egg that he always kisses. He is pushcart champion and feels that he should be the driver of the bobsled.
Junior Bevin (Rawle D Lewis) always listened to everything his father said. Until Yule Brenner teaches him how to stand up for himself.
I thought this film was fantastic when I first watched. When I took it from my brothers collection. I would love to watch it over and over again. I must have seen this film over 20 times. And I now own it myself.
Even though I have seen it so many times I would still watch it again, even though I know what the film is about and can remember what the characters are going to say in some scenes.
