This is my latest review and it is on the smash hit comedy of cool runnings. I had heard of this film by a lot of people and I have heard that it is very funny but I didn't think that it would be really funny and so I didn't make an effort to watch it. But when I was browsing through the DVD section of tesco's and I saw the film for 3 pound then I couldn't really argue and so I bought it. I went home, watched it and I can now safely say that was the best bargain that I got. Because it's such an amazing film. Anyway enough of me telling you how I bought it lets get on with the review.
*-*-* The Cast *-*-*
John Candy - This fellow is a great actor, a very great loss to the movie industry when he passed away but lets think about the good films that he made they include Uncle Buck, im sure he was in Home Alone 1 but the best film has got to be this one cool runnings. He plays a coach who teaches the Jamaicans to bobsleigh!
Leon - He plays the main character who leads the bobsleigh is basically the captain, he lost out in the running competition when he tripped thanks to the other runner he is determined to get to the Olympics and so he makes a bobsleigh team.
Doug E Doug - He plays a guy named Sanca, him and Derice (Leon) have been best friends for a long time and Derice wants Sanca to join the Bobsleigh team, Sanca is the really stupid one and before he goes on racing he kisses his lucky egg.
*-*-* The Plot *-*-*
OK so you know a bit about the characters now to tell you a little big about the film, basically Derice who is played by Leon has a dream and that is to win gold for his home country which is Jamaica, but when he is running the qualifying races he trips up thanks to a little runner, this has shattered his hopes of going to the Olympics. While he is arguing about a re-race he sees a picture of a bobsleigh he questions about it and he was directed to go and see an ex-coach (John Candy) which after a bit of persuasion agrees with it. He now needs to get a team after he does he practices and practices and does he get the Olympics I well you'll have to watch the film to find out.
*-*-* Best Bit *-*-*
To get to the Olympics they have to raise about $20000 and they go round doing fundraising but Sanca is singing and dancing on the street he sang 'You and your friend cant beat me, Jamaica we have a bobsleigh team.' He raised $1 when he consults his teammates about his stupid effort they ask how did it go and Sanca replies it went 'You and your friend….' But its just amazingly funny how they show it and he doesn't stop going on. You can tell that it's very annoying to be with him.
*-*-* DVD Extras *-*-*
Unfortunately there are no DVD extras with this DVD apart from scene selection. You may think that this is a bit rubbish but you know for the price of the DVD it doesn't really matter it's the film that you want and not the extras.
*-*-* The Bits you don't need to know *-*-*
Rating - PG (Parental Guidance) Subtitle - English, Dutch Region - 2 Runtime - 1Hour 35 Mins
*-*-* Conclusion *-*-*
As I said earlier I didn't think that I would like this film very much but after watching it I think it's an amazing film and I wonder how I thought that is would be rubbish. This is a great family film its all moderate content there is nothing to worry about apart from you will be in for a fun time watching this film. As I said earlier I bought this film for 3 pound and I think this is a bargain. Thank you for reading my review and I hope you have the pleasure of watching the DVD (or video) and im 100% confident you will enjoy it.
