Cool Runnings has to be my favourite John Candy film and one of the funniest comedies ever released. It documents the true(ish) story of the Jamaican bobsled team's entry into the winter olympics with hilarious results. John Candy is their long suffering coach who must train them into a team fit to compete with the big-boys in a short space of time, despite the fact that some of them have never even seen snow before. The jokes come thick and fast, but are of the wholesome variety, reliant upon being genuinely funny, rather than going for shock tactics like those exhibited by directors such as the Farrelly brothers. John Candy's performance is brilliant as always, as is everyone else's in the movie for that matter.
One for all the family. The film sets out to make you laugh and trust me you will do just that. The plot may be a little dodgy and not exactly stick to the true story behind it(in fact I think it just takes the event and runs with it) but its meant to be a comedy not an Oscar nominee so just watch and enjoy.
