With the ability to identify angels and demons as they exist on Earth, John Constantine (Keanu Reeves) is tormented and set apart from other people. He is self-destructive and angry, yet he does the right thing in protecting the citizens of Los Angeles from the dark forces that surround them. When he teams up with policewoman Angela Dodson (Rachel Weisz) to solve the mysterious suicide of her twin sister, the two become inextricably involved and seek to find their own peace at whatever cost. CONTSTANTINE is a murky, gothic adaptation of the DC Comics/Vertigo Hellblazer graphic novels, somewhat reminiscent of Reeves' THE DEVIL'S ADVOCATE. Set against the futuristic landscape of totalitarian Britain, V FOR VENDETTA tells of a fearful and fascist society in which individuality and free thought has been outlawed--punishable by torture. Hope comes in the form of masked vigilante, known only as 'V', who stalks the shadows, seeking out the evil power-mongers who made him the lonely freak he is. This mysterious knife-wielding figure has lightning reflexes, lots of explosives, and intentions to blow up Parliament. Natalie Portman plays the innocent waif who saves him and winds up hiding out in his nifty secret lair, which is filled with forbidden books, art, and a jukebox that plays Cat Power and Julie London's 'Cry Me a River'. Director James McTiegue keeps all these events unfolding at a hypnotically rhythmic pace, like the burning of a long, unstoppable fuse. Adapted from Alan Moore's graphic novel and written for the screen and produced by the Wachowski Brothers (THE MATRIX).

John constantine is assisted by an intrepid cop (Rachel Weisz),he is a spiritual warrior fighting to win back his place in heaven , when he has already a place reserved in hell. He has a gift-He can see deamons!!!!
Their investigation takes them into the underworld of demons and angels that exists just beneath the landscape of LA. convinced that the son of Lucifer is trying to be born into human form, Constantine must battle against time, his own illness and all manner of deamons. Armed will holy water, an interesting crucifix gun and dragons breath, the special effects are amazing!
This supernatural thriller will keep you gripped from start to finish and is worth a watch just...

john constantine gets himself kicked out of heaven and now is wanted in hell by lucifer then lucifer personally comes from hell to meet him constantine is the only soul he has personally met
to get that attention he must have done some really bad things
the movie is straight forward STOP THE DEVIL'S SON FROM BEING BORN ON EARTH or we wil suffer for it
so reeves is quite the hero
someone should tell him smoking is bad for your health!!!!
there is never a boring moment
if you are a big fan of comics you have to and i mean YOU HAVE TO watch this...

Advantages: Heaven vs Hell, Good plot, action, mild peril, philosophical, symbolistic, powerful Disadvantages: quite long, graphic in places

However it can be a bit tedious in places, being 121 minutes in length, just over 2 hours can seem tough going, and the ending was ok, but a little easy. My friends and i thought up better endings after the the film. However it did not really detract from the message.
I liked it due to the religious symbology, and the surreal characters within the story. The costuming and the choice of set were very dark and theatrical, with an almost cartoon sense. However considering that Constantine was based on Hellblazer Graphic Novels.
A good film, not one for the children though, with violence and graphic and vivid insinuations of death, plus and a tough smoking message. Get in the pop corn!
There are extra scenes on the DVD, accumulating in 18mins of extra footage, and deleted scenes that didnt make the cut. Some of these are action packed and some...
