Amelie
Advantages: all around amazing, entertaining, well thought out Disadvantages: nothing
I think that this is probably the best movie I have ever seen. Not only is the story completely terrific, but the filming is great as well! I love the effect put on the filming throughout the whole movie. I love the concept of this story. It reminds me that happiness in life depends on how you live your life, how to look at it, and how you try to improve, not only your own life, but others' as well. Every character in this movie is well thought out ... ...only is this a completely fulfilling and touching movie, it also has quite a bit of humour in it. I have zero bad things to say about this movie. I love everything about it, and I'm sure anyone who watches it will too. While watching this movie, it will help if you are a good reader or if you speak French, as the film is in French and unless you speak it you'll have to read subtitles. If that's not a problem for you, then I'm sure you'll adore this ...

Fantastique!
Advantages: Greta humour Disadvantages: The French audio
...easy to follow comedy called Les Visiteurs. I am now so pleased that they chose this film because I have since bought it on DVD and watched it again, having enjoyed it so much.
The film as I have already mentioned has French audio but the English subtitles on my DVD version are fixed and according to my host family are very accurate although some of the humour is lost in translation a little bit. THE PLOT
Count Godefroy de Montmirail has ... ...with his beloved Fenegronde's hand in marriage. On the way to claim his love however a witch's hex leaves the Knight in a hallucinogenic state and he accidentally kills Fenegronde's father. She is obviously therefore not going to marry him and so Godefroy, with the somewhat smelly and grossly uncouth vassal Jacquoville in tow, turns to a wizard who he hopes can send them back in time so he can avert the event. The wizard however is to say the least ...

The Edukators-excellent depiction of modern rebellion
Advantages: Well thought out, interesting ideas Disadvantages: Occasionally a little predictable
...Hans Weingartner and nominated for the 2004 Golden Palm award at Cannes film festival, The Edukators is a German-Austrian film set in contemporary Berlin. Focusing on the lives of 3 young activists, Jule (Julia Jentsch), her boyfriend Peter (Stipe Erceg) and his morally righteous best-friend Jan (Daniel Bruehl, of Good Bye Lenin fame), the story unfolds in two directions. The film opens with a obviously wealthy family returning to their house to ... ...fetten Jahre sind vorbei (literally; the fat years are over meaning the days of plenty are numbered and the title of the original German release), signed the Edukators. Through the films development it is realised that Jan and Peter are responsible for this as they undertake nighttime missions to 'educate' the rich. They break into houses but never steal leaving notes for the owners to let them know they have too much money. The film turns when peter ...

Would you like to have dinner with me?
Advantages: Hilarious Disadvantages: The translation
...It is called…
Le Diner de Cons
***********************************
In other words, this is some type of "Dinner Game" or "Idiot Dinner", as I would call it. "Cons" is a rude word, with a similar meaning to c***, except it has lost all its meaning, so you can say it in some occasions without sounding too rude. Just avoid it during your job interviews and serious meetings!
The Story
***********************************
Pierre Brochant is a rich ... ...Or more recently, in Le Placard (The Closet), which is probably the most well-known in England.
In "Le Diner de Cons", the actors all are very famous French actors.
* Pierre Brochant is played by Thierry Lhermitte, (my mum's fantasy), who has played in many French comedies that you probably haven't heard of (Les Bronzes, Le Pere Noel est une Ordure, etc).
* Francois Pignon is played by Jacques Villeret. His performance as a stupid but endearing ...

"I'm Not Very Operational In Life"
Advantages: Thoughtful French film that is an adventure of sorts Disadvantages: Not one for action fans
...She mentioned this thing called the green ray, a pretty rare phenomenon that happens when the sun sets on a very clear day, when just before it sinks there is a flash of green on the horizon.
I presumed my mother must have seen this film Le Rayon Vert by Eric Rohmer which features the very mentioned green ray, but she insisted she had not. This was a film I had seen in a French film class at University (yes I skated my credits nicely thank you). ... ...the tedious, pretentious Truffaut type stuff - Jules et Jim put me to sleep. Eric Rohmer is sometimes said to be the Woody Allen of French cinema, so it's unsurprising I would have been drawn to his films I suppose, having generally always liked Allen.
So anyway I was reminded of this film, and lo and behold a few weeks later a Saturday paper (The Observer?, can't remember sorry) was giving away this very film. Kismet! I was quite excited to watch ...
