Plus, admit it guys, while the concept of snuggling up to watch a "happily ever after clambake" sounds just as exciting to some of you as being stuck in traffic after having 3 cups of coffee and 5 bran muffins, there comes a time when one has to put away your action films and video games to enjoy a movie that, somehow, brings a man and woman together at the end. All this week, I've been reviewing some contemporary and new films which ...

A gentle comedy
Advantages: Great movie with some superb acting performances. Disadvantages: Maybe a little slow for a younger audience
Driving Miss Daisy, directed by Bruce Beresford, details the subtleties of southern life. Adapted from Alfred Uhry’s Pulitzer Prize winning play, the movie tells the story of Miss Daisy and her chauffer, Hoke. It is a sentimental journey through the years as we watch a reluctant friendship build between a wealthy lady and her chauffer. The Plot
Miss Daisy is becoming a danger on the highways as she manages to write-off her car in her own driveway. ... ...eventually allows Hoke to be her chauffer. As the movie progresses in its quiet and sometimes funny way we see a reluctant friendship develop as the two realize they have much in common. Hoke, with his gentleness and patience begins to win the war against the temperamental Miss Daisy.
As Miss Daisy’s synagogie is attacked, Hoke points out similarities between the Klu-Klux-Klans attacks on black churches.
The movie is tinged with sadness throughout ...

An Unusual Friendship
Advantages: Wonderful story, great acting Disadvantages: None
Driving Miss Daisy is a film which me and hubby stopped in Asda today and discovered that neither of us had watched it. We soon changed that this afternoon!
The film is set in the 50?s in America and is about Miss Daisy, played by Jessica Tandy, who is getting on in years but still thinks she is perfectly able to drive. One morning she goes to get her car out and manages to crash it into the neighbours garden. Miss Daisy?s son, played by Dan Aykroyd ... ...by Morgan Freeman is employed as Miss Daisy?s driver but things do not go to plan and she refuses to let him drive for her, eventually after Hoke follows her down the street in the car she gets in and he drives her to the store. Will Miss Daisy let Hoke be her permanent driver and what will become of the pair?
I thought that this was a wonderful film, both me and my hubby thoroughly enjoyed it and found it very suitable for a Sunday afternoon. We ...

One Man And A Piano
Advantages: fantastic comedy show Disadvantages: some dodgy camera angles
...you would like. 1 Ready For This. This is the opening song for the show and Minchin comes onto the stage in a blaze of strobe lights and opens the show with a great little rock ditty where he manages to poke fun at himself while accompanied by a recording of him beatboxing with back up singers. 2 Prejudice In our modern free spoken society There is a word that we still hold taboo A word with a terrible history Of being used to ... ...to gingers, the playground taunt of choice. A hilarious song that manages to use more ginger puns than you thought existed! 3 America America is not a song but a stand up routine which discusses how forward Americans are compared to Australians and British people and are not afraid to shout about their achievements. Somehow the dialogue manages to veer onto the big bang and what will happen to a certain office block in Times Square in Manhattan ...

A night you would want to remember!
Advantages: Funny, Famous cameo, Unpredictable Disadvantages: slightly unbelievable at times.
Well I saw the Hangover in the cinema, and I plan on purchasing on DVD in the near future.
I thought this film was hilarious - one of my friends more so as he decided to go to watch it in the cinema about 3 or 4 times!
I personally felt the star of the show so to speak was Zach Galifianakis who played slightly odd soon to be brother in law Alan. I just thought his stupidity/twisted sense of humour was really funny, and entertained me all the way ... ...really, but at the same time quite amusing. I won't go into too much detail of what happens as I don't want to spoil any of the suprises during the film. Basically, the film is about a group of guys who go to Vegas for a bloke called Doug to have a stag night. Doug doesn't really feature in the film other than the beginning and end - as he goes missing - which is the point of the film. They wake up the morning after with a trashed hotel room, and ...
