Joey, have you ever seen a grown man naked?
Review of Airplane! (Wide Screen) by midpikyrozziy

Advantages: Hilarious, witty, laugh-out-loud humor
Disadvantages: You'll be annoying everyone by telling them how good this is

Airplane! has surely got to be considered as one of the all time greats of satirical comedy today. Spoofing disaster movies, Airplane! will manages to have 95% of any audience in hysterics throughout the film. Brought to you by the same guys who directed Leslie Nielsen's similarly hilarious series Police Squad, Jim Abrahams, and David Zucker, this film uses all sorts of jokes - crude, intelligent, slapstick - to extract as many laughs as possible. ...
...adds to the spoofing value. Airplane! was made in 1980, and in the 1970s there were many disaster movies made, and Airplane! takes full advantage of the comic potential just waiting to be turned into a film. Leslie Nielsen steals the performance as Dr. Rumack, who similarly to Nielsen's character in Naked Gun and Police Squad, Frank Drebin, plays a confident, assured character on the outside, is really a bit of an idiot on the outside. The film's ... Read review

MISSION IMPROBABLE !!
Review of Spy Hard DVD by CRIPPLE

Advantages: Leslie Nielsen.
Disadvantages: Make up your own mind.

...would be right, -ish, because Spy Hard doesn't quite hit the mark. Read on. THE 'PLOT' Dick Steel retired from active duty after his partner, Victoria Dahl, was tragically killed on a mission to take out the evil General Rancor. But now, twenty years later, Rancor is back, having survived the explosion of his helicopter with only the inconvenient loss of both his arms. And to prove he means business, he has kidnapped Barbara Dahl, the daughter ...
...appear that the writers of Spy Hard expect the comedy to be enough to carry the film. There is no real effort made with this movie, to involve much of a plot, let alone a story, and the constant lack of common sense with regards to following the action is annoying. SO, ITS A BAD FILM ? Well, no. Taking each individual scene as a light-hearted vignette, the laughter keeps flowing. This is aided by the irreverant references to some very famous, ... Read review

Cack
Review of Mr Magoo DVD by Andy

Advantages:
Disadvantages:

Leslie Nielsen plays the title character in this live-action version of the cartoon of the same name. It doesn't work. There isn't nearly enough genuine comedy; instead, the focus is on the unfunny villains and clumsy pratfalls. The director is, strangely enough, Stanley Tong, who directed some of Jackie Chan's movies. That may explain the nods to martial arts, but it doesn't make them any less out of place. To his credit, Nielsen gets the voice ...
...but the movie uses his character in a context that makes them annoying rather than endearing. The worst mistake was animating the opening credits like the old cartoons. It's funny. It's a big flashing announcement: "Look at how funny this movie isn't!" Not even the outtakes at the end elicit much of a laugh. ... Read review

Simply Marvellous - Some Like It Hot
Review of Some Like It Hot (Special Edition) (Wide Screen) by Ottavia

Advantages: It's brilliant
Disadvantages: None

. Some Like It Hot is an outstanding film, featuring brilliant perfomances from Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon and the supporting cast. It's laugh-out-loud funny, with an excellent plot that'll have you hooked from the off and songs that'll be stuck in your head for weeks! Made in 1959, this film instantly became a hit and with time, a classic. The story was co-written by Robert Thoeren and Michael Logan. They had used the same premise ...
...chase between the police and some heavys from the local gangsters illegal nightclub. They're carrying bootleg whiskey in coffins. When they finally lose the police they drive down an alleyway and unload the goods. Then we see the 'funeral parlour' where they are taken...and once the door's closed we're shown the nightclub that's out the back and the lavish party that's going on - gangsters, alcohol, dancing girls and the band. It's when we see the ... Read review

Serving up a treat
Review of Serving Sara DVD by MI9to5

Advantages: Quick witted humour
Disadvantages: Supporting cast little irritating at times

Serving Sara is one of those films that you love to hate. The storyline isn't the best it could be and neither the acting nor filming perfect but it is still an enjoyable romantic comedy. Joe Tyler (Matthew Perry) was once a hotshot lawyer but since being disbarred he has found himself hunting down defendants and handing them legal summons. This as once so easy for him but just lately actually catching the defendants in question has been difficult, ...
...Joe is sent to serve divorce papers to the beautiful but unsuspecting millionaires Sara Moore (Elizabeth Hurley), Miami hating Tony is less than impressed and will stop at nothing to discredit Joe. Meanwhile after managing to serve Mrs Moore the papers he finds himself stuck on a bus with her and her four thousand question. Luckily for him though one of these questions is worth one million dollars and all he has to do is say yes. That is yes to ... Read review
