Who cares about Bob? What about me?
Review of What About Bob? DVD by
Phelthew
Advantages: Bill Murray. Quite funny
Disadvantages: Leo's annoying family
What About Bob? is a 1991 comedy film starring the great Bill Murray (well I like him). It tells the story of Bob (Bill Murray) who is a man with severe mental problems. He has a whole host phobias and is such a conundrum of a mental patient that his psychiatrist had a mental breakdown. He is then passed on to Dr. Leo Marvin (Richard Dreyfuss) a brilliant psychiatrist who has just published a new book called baby steps. He meets Bob and actually ... ...steps at everything. Bob takes this literally and starts taking very small steps everywhere and claims it helps. However, a twist in the tale occurs as Leo is going on holiday for awhile and has passed all his patients on to another doctor for the time being. Bob will see no-one else as he thinks Marvin is a genius. He then comes up with an ingenious plan himself to track down Leo and spend his vacation with him. The story then centres around Bob ...

Review of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels DVD by
grafter123
Advantages: Very funny, classy comedy, great cast, good setting, good story line
Disadvantages: None for me
...has a lot to learn. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is a remake of a 1960's film which starred David Niven and Marlon Brando playing the leading roles. Set in a fictional, French resort Michael Caine as Laurence Jamieson has been making a good living by way of duping gullible females out of their cash. In league with the local head of police, played by Anton Rogers, he has a nice little earner set up. When Freddy Benson, played by Steve Martin, arrives in ... ...farce thrown in occasionally then this film should entertain and amuse you. Despite being twenty years old it is not really dated.
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels was directed by Frank Oz and more recently a stage musical has been made of this film.

Simply Marvellous - Some Like It Hot
Review of Some Like It Hot (Special Edition) (Wide Screen) by
Ottavia
Advantages: It's brilliant
Disadvantages: None
Some Like It Hot is an outstanding film, featuring brilliant perfomances from Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon and the supporting cast. It's laugh-out-loud funny, with an excellent plot that'll have you hooked from the off and songs that'll be stuck in your head for weeks! Made in 1959, this film instantly became a hit and with time, a classic. The story was co-written by Robert Thoeren and Michael Logan. They had used the same premise ... ...chase between the police and some heavys from the local gangsters illegal nightclub. They're carrying bootleg whiskey in coffins. When they finally lose the police they drive down an alleyway and unload the goods. Then we see the 'funeral parlour' where they are taken...and once the door's closed we're shown the nightclub that's out the back and the lavish party that's going on - gangsters, alcohol, dancing girls and the band. It's when we see the ...

Serving up a treat
Review of Serving Sara DVD by
MI9to5
Advantages: Quick witted humour
Disadvantages: Supporting cast little irritating at times
Serving Sara is one of those films that you love to hate. The storyline isn't the best it could be and neither the acting nor filming perfect but it is still an enjoyable romantic comedy. Joe Tyler (Matthew Perry) was once a hotshot lawyer but since being disbarred he has found himself hunting down defendants and handing them legal summons. This as once so easy for him but just lately actually catching the defendants in question has been difficult, ... ...Joe is sent to serve divorce papers to the beautiful but unsuspecting millionaires Sara Moore (Elizabeth Hurley), Miami hating Tony is less than impressed and will stop at nothing to discredit Joe.
Meanwhile after managing to serve Mrs Moore the papers he finds himself stuck on a bus with her and her four thousand question. Luckily for him though one of these questions is worth one million dollars and all he has to do is say yes. That is yes to ...
