Review of Monty Python's Life Of Brian DVD by
Suzela
Advantages: A hilariously funny film
Disadvantages: Some might still find it offensive
...first time I ever saw Monty Python's Life of Brian (1979) was when Channel 4 showed it as part of their banned season when I was at school (it would have been late 80s/early 90s). I sneaked a video tape in to the machine to record it as coming from a very Christian family I didn't want to upset anyone but I really wanted to see what all the fuss was about and if this film really did contain all the blasphemous content that had earned it a ban. Imagine ... ...Unlike their previous film Monty Python and The Holy Grail where each of the main characters has a section of the film to themselves, this film follows events and scenes which either include or directly involve Brian and it is this focus on the central character that stops this film from becoming a series of silly/funny episodes. The scenes and scenarios are beautifully crafted with the majority of the humour coming from exaggerations of everyday ...

Great film, terrible DVD
Review of Monty Python's The Meaning Of Life DVD by
OddGodHMK
Advantages: Best Monty Python film ever
Disadvantages: DVD include absolutely no extra features
This was the first Monty Python movie I ever saw, years after my dad told me about the hilarious scene involving Mr. Creosote, and it remains my favourite Monty Python film. However, the DVD is the worst Monty Python DVD I have.
~~~ The Film ~~~
This review is mainly concentrated on the DVD, but I will include this section specifically on the film. The film itself is about life, so goes through stages of life, presented in parts until the meaning ... ...It's also the last Monty Python film, which is definitely unfortunate as they were only getting better and better.
I think the main reason this film is my favourite is the fact it does not stay on one person or general topic. It feels quite random as it moves through life, from birth to life in school, and onwards through things such as the 'autumn years' and finally death and a visit to the afterlife. The cast, as usual, are naturally funny, adding ...
Made me fall of the bed laughing
Review of Dudley Do-Right (Wide Screen) by
sarahbethy
Advantages: It's funny, clever and the acting is great!
Disadvantages: In my research i saw some bad comments about it not being true to the cartoon, and some people hate it. It's one of them love it or hate it things!
...in the Canadian Rockies where Dudley Do-Right is a Mountie. Now, when you think of Mountie, you think of programmes like Due South, and I could never really get into them so when this video arrived in the post (I won it in a competition) it stayed in the envelope for five days because I really wasn’t interested in watching it. Big mistake. The movie opens with laughter, ends with laughter and is filled up to the brim with laughter. In case you haven’t ... ...(Nell) to the enemy (Snidely) Dudley gets ready to kick some major arse. He becomes a masked man on a mission, setting out on his motorcycle to defeat the villain, win the heart of the fair maiden and bring peace back to Semi-Happy Valley.
Ok, so the plot sounds fairly stereotypical, which is one of the reasons why I put off watching it, but the way the story is presented is excellent. There is a witty and sarcastic voice-over throughout the film, ...
The Aristcrats are Sick People
Review of The Aristocrats DVD by
welshwickedone
Advantages: OK if you got a Sad sense of humour
Disadvantages: It is remoltingly disgusting,filthy,and stomache churning
My partner rented this film the other evening for us to watch as one of his work mates had recommended it.
we settled down to watch it after the children had gone to bed and to be hoenst i was totally shocked and horrified as to what some people think is funny.
I am no prude in anyway and have always been told by my friends that i have a wicked sense of humour but the comments being made on this film and turned into what they call a joke is not ... ...a Blow job (please excuse the expression but that is exactly what he meant but in a even filthier way)is beyond my comprehension
i feel some of the comedians as they call themselves on this film need to seek professional phyciatric help if they think that what they are making jokes of is funny.
i am in no way immplying that what they are telling jokes about are true events but i feel that anyone who can make a joke of children performing sexual ...
A Good Laugh At Life
Review of Monty Python's The Meaning Of Life DVD by
dreamscancometrue
Advantages: British humour at its best
Disadvantages: none
...Meaning Of life.
The Monty Python team, are up to their usual anarchic antics in this look at life from beginning to end, in a fashion that only Monty Python can.
Not so much a movie as The Life of Brian, or The Holy Grail, its more of a series of hilarious sketches, portraying people in everyday life situations, from the moments of conception, (The Sacred Sperm Sketch) is on of the best of the entire film, to a final meeting with the Grim Reaper, ... ...this hilarious last full length Monty Python movie. Laughs abound from the usual team of:- John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, Michael Palin and Graham Chapman .
All in all a real good piece of British humour at its best.
Running time 86 minutes.
I've only hired the DVD so this is a film only review.
But a quick look on its availability over the internet, shows it is readily available from many outlets at varied prices ...
