Son's of the desert Masterpiece (The Music Box)
Review of Laurel And Hardy - No. 14 - A Job To Do - Classic Shorts DVD by benzas

Advantages: All the brilliance of Laurel & Hardy, Music Box
Disadvantages: none, if you are a fan of the comedy duo.

I love laurel and hardy, and the fact that most of their DVD's now cost much less than £10, for a number of episodes, can only be a good thing for fans of these two amazingly funny people. Almost all Luarel and Hardy are based around the same kind of silly slapstick jokes, and vicious remarks from Oli, but that doesn't make it any less funny. This DVD contains six individual short films, some also have an accompanying colour version. Some are really ...
...If you like Laurel and Hardy, you will love this paticular set of shorts, but i must admit, Laurel and Hardy is an acquired taste. My wife simply doesn't understand them and hence finds them un-funny. Personally, i usually have cripling pain in my side after watching them, from all the laughing. This is Laurel and Hardy at their best, so even if you've never experienced them before, at this price, they're well worth a go and you never know, you too ... Read review

...'compose', of course, but his beautiful wife is distracting him. So he keeps avoiding her. Stan and Ollie come to sell mouse traps and Ollie ends up falling in love with her but with the usual hilarious and farcical results. Carry on teaching
Review of Carry On Teacher DVD by mike.lewis

Advantages: a nice gentle funny comedy that is very much a part of shaping the Carry on films.
Disadvantages: not to everyones cup of tea

...writing a review of a Carry On film - but - and I am not ashamed to admit it, not even in polite company - I am a Carry On fan and proud of it. I also admit that I possess a video copy of every carry on film and TV series that is, as far as I know, available. Is there a reason for this apparent madness?? Yup there is and it is a very simple reason indeed - I happen to like British comedy - especially some of the early comedies such as the films produced ...
...---- Some background information------- Carry On Teacher(1959) was the third of the carry on series of films following the successful Carry on Sargeant(1958) and Carry on Nurse(1959). There were a number of stars who were already becoming regulars - even at this early stage Kenny Williams, Kenneth Connor, Charlie Hawtrey and last but by no means least Hattie Jacques. At this point Sid James, Babs Windsor, Patsy Rowlands and so on were still to be ... Read review

Carry On Mr Williams
Review of Carry On Spying DVD by scampbellajc

Advantages: Great Early carry On
Disadvantages: No extras on DVD

...considered the golden age of Carry On. This film along with Cleo,Screaming, etc is the gang at their best. This time they lampoon spy films and it is great to see Kenneth Williams given effectively the lead here. He has great support from Charles Hawtrey, Barbara Windsor ( her first Carry On ) Bernard Cribbins ( his first, and one of only three he made including Carry On Jack & Carry On Columbus. Also Jim Dale got his first outing here. The story ...
...later and not so great Carry Ons have been realeased in Special Editions with commentarys al be it on occaisions by someone quite low down in the cast list. I realise that most of the cast are no longer with us but this film does has have Dale,Cribbins,Windsor who at time of press are would be nice to hear something of what Carry Ons were like at the height of their appeal Anyway this is a cheap buy at most retailers but an average price would be ...
