King Henry VIII at his best!!!
Review of Carry On Henry (Special Edition) by
kgray71
Advantages: It's a good carry on

Carry On To Ellsbells
Review of Carry On Abroad (Special Edition) (Wide Screen) by
IanPhillips
Advantages: Is one of the best Carry On's
Disadvantages: None as such
Carry On Abroad truly encapsulates the feel-good spirit that made the films such an enduring success. Nearly all of the teams favourite regulars are here as well as some extra additions to the cast line-up. The usual batch of players that are present and clearly on good form are Sid James, Joan Sims, Kenneth Williams, Peter Butterworth, Charles Hawtrey, Babara Windsor, Hattie Jaques, Kenneth Connor and Bernard Bresslaw and are joined by Scottish ... ...the best endings in a Carry On film, firmly holding onto that fine, feel-good spirit which would slowly dissolve from here on. The cast are all on usual form, though Peter Butterworth and Hattie Jaques are perharps the best players here. They make an almost Laurel and Hardy kind of duo and Jaques in particular is an unusual role, playing a Spanish, downtrodden and seemingly demented cook. The rest of the cast certainly get their moments including ...

Hilarious Medical Caper
Review of Carry On Again Doctor (Special Edition) (Wide Screen) by
IanPhillips
Advantages: Great performances all round
Disadvantages: None as such
Carry On Again Doctor(1969) is, in my own opinion, the funniest of the medical Carry On's. There is more structure to the plot than there was in Carry On Nurse (1958) or Carry On Doctor (1968) and the film being divided into three sections works well as there really feels as though there is a beginning, middle and end of a story. Most of the same actors that were used in Doctor (1967) crop up in this entry with some playing almost identical characters. ... ...also includes all the best Carry On gang Kenneth Williams, Joan Sims, Charles Hawtrey, Sid James (who is not introduced until at least half way through the film), Hattie Jaques, yet again reprising her familiar role of the Matron (though plays this more gently in this one in contrast to the more ferocious steretype displayed in Nurse and Doctor) and the bubbly Babara Windsor who quickly catches Jim Dales roving eye. Carry On Again Doctor on the whole ...

Classic entry in the long-running film series
Review of Carry On Up The Jungle (Special Edition) by
IanPhillips
Advantages: The addition of Frankie Howard in the cast
Disadvantages: Slow in parts
Following the hilarious medical caper Carry On Again Doctor (1969) (one of my own personal favourites in the series) the merry old Carry On gang retreated into another historical theme for what was the last Carry On film of the swinging sixties (which was the decade that the Carry On films were in their prime), Carry On Up The Jungle (1969). The Carry On films were always essentially British so it's actually quite surprising that they enjoyed such ... ...cinemas for nearly three years!!). Carry On Up The Jungle was really no exception and the film predicatbly runs through all of those familiar gags and double entendres that we've all seen and heard probably 1,000 times before in other Carry On films but it's the super-fine performances of the irreplacable Carry On players that ignite Carry On Up The Jungle into such a wonderful film (not to mention spot-on direction from Gerald Thomas aided by the ...

Carry On Bilko
Review of Carry On Follow That Camel (Special Edition) by
scampbellajc
Advantages: Another classic from Carry On team
Disadvantages: Special Features
Carry On Follow That Camel is a bit of change for the Carry On team - for those unaware Carry On movies were a long running series of films starting way back in 1958 and running up to 1978 which always followed the same formula of a send up of an institution or type of movie and a cast of regulars who appeared in these films
The change this time is whilst there is no Sid James there is, making his only Carry On appearence the American comedian Phil ... ...The plot in true Carry On style is basically made up of set pieces this time involing Harem Beauties Blood thirsty Bedouins and the inept Legionaires
If you like Carry Ons this is probably on of the better ones and the cast seem to be having a great time
As this is the Special Edition it contains an audio commentary from Jim Dale ( one of the few remaining cast members ) a very uncomfortable promotional interview with Phil Silvers which is basically ...
