Fashionistic comedy
Advantages: great fashion, great acting, good plot Disadvantages: something now quite there
...a fan of sex in the city and I thought this would really be along the same lines.
I chose to watch it as I love Meryl Streep and believe that she is a very talented actress.
However this film actually has good characterisations, a plot and a very good cast indeed.
Once the Director has got over the setting up of Miranda Priestly (Streep) as the Uber Bitch and Andrea Hathaway (Andy Sachs) as the dedicated journalist who knows nothing about fashion ... ...Blunt playing the dangerous senior assistant Emily, Stanley Tucci as the fashion guru Nigel and Simon Baker as the seductive journalist Christian Thompson the story starts to build well.
We see Andrea's (Andy) friends at first scoffing then jealous at her progress, watch while Miranda starts to trust Andy and cheer when Andy finally sorts out her priorities.
Regrettably the ending is pure Hollywood Saccharine, but nevertheless I still found it ...

Ridiculously underrated and underexposed comedy
Advantages: Clever, witty, original. Written by and stars Tina Fey - need I say more? Disadvantages: You'll probably have to buy it on dvd, it's rarely shown on tv in the UK
This show is so criminally underrated in the UK - it definitely deserves a decent slot on a mainstream channel, to get the viewers it deserves! To be fair, it is fairly quirky and likely to divide opinion, but then so do most worthwhile comedies. It's set in the Rockerfeller Centre in New York (hence the name) and is based around the happenings at the NBC studios. More specifically it is about Liz Lemon (Tina Fey), the head writer of a comedy sketch ... ...(brilliantly played by Alec Baldwin) becomes her new boss, and forces her to accept Tracy Jordan onto her show. Tracy is an ever so slightly insane, eccentric, unpredictable 'actor' who causes havoc pretty much wherever he goes. This is the basic premise, which gives rise to 21 witty, cleverly-scripted, original episodes in the first season alone. If you're looking for a basic sit-com which doesn't rock too many boats this probably isn't for you, ...

this second series of the award winning comedt, is just as funny as the first and featuring guest appearences form stars like, Orlando Bloom, ... ...Lindsay, Robert De Niro and of course Barry from Eastenders.
it is definatly a really find.

Sometimes the truth is 'Stranger Than Fiction'.
Advantages: A unique, intriguing and well-written story with some powerful performances. Disadvantages: the ending has been considered by some to be too neatly tied up.
Stranger than Fiction (2006) directed by Marc Forster is a somewhat dark comedy centred around a man called Harold Crick (played by Will Farrell.) Harold leads a relatively mundane and lonely life as an IRS auditor. Everyday he wakes up at the same time, ties his tie in the same knot, gets the same bus, eats the same lunch alone and then makes his way home to eat dinner at his single one-bedroom apartment. However, this all changes when he starts ... ...apartment. The original score and soundtrack compliments the film's story, with numbers from Spoon, The Jam's 'Entertainment' and M83's 'In Church', among others. All in all, Stranger than Fiction is a film that sucks you in with an intriguing plot line and keeps you immersed until the very end. ...

The "truth is stranger than fiction"
Advantages: makes you feel warm and fluffy inside Disadvantages: a bit of a weak ending
...films we picked up was Stranger than fiction, because he loves Will Farrell. I wasn't that bothered, and didn't really pay much attention, as we had also picked up a copy of Family Guy, Blue Harvest. Anyway I digress, I think my padding here is done…
~The Film~
The protagonist is Harold Crick (played by Will Farrell), gifted with super human mental arithmetic skills, so naturally, working for the IRS. Harold is a solitary existence, his only "friends" ... ...does interact with on a daily basis, he is straight laced and focused on work, compelled to live his life following as many rules and routines as possible. The film begins, and a woman, with an English accent is narrating, as if reading from a book, or as if film's script had been taken straight from a novel, sort of like The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Harold goes about his daily life, and then one day, whilst brushing his teeth, 13 strokes ...
