we are the knights who say ...... Ni!!!
Review of Monty Python And The Holy Grail DVD by
giksy21
Advantages: no brainer, just pure fun
Disadvantages: none
What is the air speed velocity of an un-laden swallow?
This is just one of many life changing questions that are answered in this rediculously funny film.
Does it make any sense, whatsoever? well, no, but neither does anything that the pythons have done.
Written and performed by the pythons way back in 1975, this is a take on camelot, and the knights of the round table. If they need introducing, the pythons are Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry ... ...happen to be some of the funniest men ever to have graced the earth.
The plot can only be described loosely, as there isn't really one. But i'll do my best. Arthur, king of the britains, is visited by god, who sends him on a quest, to find the holy grail. On the way, arthur rounds up some knights to help him. he meets up with Sir Bedevere the Wise, Sir Lancelot the Brave, Sir Galahad the Pure (also called "the Chaste"), and Sir Robin the Not-Quite-So-Brave-As-Sir-Lancelot. ...

Great film, terrible DVD
Review of Monty Python's The Meaning Of Life DVD by
OddGodHMK
Advantages: Best Monty Python film ever
Disadvantages: DVD include absolutely no extra features
This was the first Monty Python movie I ever saw, years after my dad told me about the hilarious scene involving Mr. Creosote, and it remains my favourite Monty Python film. However, the DVD is the worst Monty Python DVD I have.
~~~ The Film ~~~
This review is mainly concentrated on the DVD, but I will include this section specifically on the film. The film itself is about life, so goes through stages of life, presented in parts until the meaning ... ...It's also the last Monty Python film, which is definitely unfortunate as they were only getting better and better.
I think the main reason this film is my favourite is the fact it does not stay on one person or general topic. It feels quite random as it moves through life, from birth to life in school, and onwards through things such as the 'autumn years' and finally death and a visit to the afterlife. The cast, as usual, are naturally funny, adding ...
A Good Laugh At Life
Review of Monty Python's The Meaning Of Life DVD by
dreamscancometrue
Advantages: British humour at its best
Disadvantages: none
...Meaning Of life.
The Monty Python team, are up to their usual anarchic antics in this look at life from beginning to end, in a fashion that only Monty Python can.
Not so much a movie as The Life of Brian, or The Holy Grail, its more of a series of hilarious sketches, portraying people in everyday life situations, from the moments of conception, (The Sacred Sperm Sketch) is on of the best of the entire film, to a final meeting with the Grim Reaper, ... ...this hilarious last full length Monty Python movie. Laughs abound from the usual team of:- John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, Michael Palin and Graham Chapman .
All in all a real good piece of British humour at its best.
Running time 86 minutes.
I've only hired the DVD so this is a film only review.
But a quick look on its availability over the internet, shows it is readily available from many outlets at varied prices ...
Simply Marvellous - Some Like It Hot
Review of Some Like It Hot (Special Edition) (Wide Screen) by
Ottavia
Advantages: It's brilliant
Disadvantages: None
Some Like It Hot is an outstanding film, featuring brilliant perfomances from Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon and the supporting cast. It's laugh-out-loud funny, with an excellent plot that'll have you hooked from the off and songs that'll be stuck in your head for weeks! Made in 1959, this film instantly became a hit and with time, a classic. The story was co-written by Robert Thoeren and Michael Logan. They had used the same premise ... ...chase between the police and some heavys from the local gangsters illegal nightclub. They're carrying bootleg whiskey in coffins. When they finally lose the police they drive down an alleyway and unload the goods. Then we see the 'funeral parlour' where they are taken...and once the door's closed we're shown the nightclub that's out the back and the lavish party that's going on - gangsters, alcohol, dancing girls and the band. It's when we see the ...
Serving up a treat
Review of Serving Sara DVD by
MI9to5
Advantages: Quick witted humour
Disadvantages: Supporting cast little irritating at times
Serving Sara is one of those films that you love to hate. The storyline isn't the best it could be and neither the acting nor filming perfect but it is still an enjoyable romantic comedy. Joe Tyler (Matthew Perry) was once a hotshot lawyer but since being disbarred he has found himself hunting down defendants and handing them legal summons. This as once so easy for him but just lately actually catching the defendants in question has been difficult, ... ...Joe is sent to serve divorce papers to the beautiful but unsuspecting millionaires Sara Moore (Elizabeth Hurley), Miami hating Tony is less than impressed and will stop at nothing to discredit Joe.
Meanwhile after managing to serve Mrs Moore the papers he finds himself stuck on a bus with her and her four thousand question. Luckily for him though one of these questions is worth one million dollars and all he has to do is say yes. That is yes to ...
