An Utter Waste of Money
Review of The Ladies Man (Wide Screen) by Blacknarwhal

Advantages: There's a halfway decent supporting cast here, and some good laughs.
Disadvantages: Tim Meadows does NOT have the talent to do anything over a ten minute sketch. Bad acting, soundtrack, storyline, everything

...It's yet another movie from the Saturday Night Live studios, who haven't exactly been churning out quality movies lately. Or quality shows, for that matter. Tim Meadows is Leon Phelps, a late-night, unintentionally foul-mouthed disc jockey with a lisp and essentially one joke: anything sexual. From reading his poem over Chicago's airwaves, "Doin' It In The Butt," to presenting his demo tape to various producers, in which we're repeatedly treated ...
...his late-night radio job for the aforementioned poem among many other FCC violations, he and his producer must go in search of work. But he has a good supporting cast. Billy Dee Williams plays the bartender-cum (no pun intended!)-narrator, whose narration is invariably taken as dialogue by the rest of the cast, who ask him, mystified, what he's talking about. Mark McKinney plays a religious radio station head who is indignant when he discovers the ... Read review

Simply Marvellous - Some Like It Hot
Review of Some Like It Hot (Special Edition) (Wide Screen) by Ottavia

Advantages: It's brilliant
Disadvantages: None

. Some Like It Hot is an outstanding film, featuring brilliant perfomances from Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon and the supporting cast. It's laugh-out-loud funny, with an excellent plot that'll have you hooked from the off and songs that'll be stuck in your head for weeks! Made in 1959, this film instantly became a hit and with time, a classic. The story was co-written by Robert Thoeren and Michael Logan. They had used the same premise ...
...chase between the police and some heavys from the local gangsters illegal nightclub. They're carrying bootleg whiskey in coffins. When they finally lose the police they drive down an alleyway and unload the goods. Then we see the 'funeral parlour' where they are taken...and once the door's closed we're shown the nightclub that's out the back and the lavish party that's going on - gangsters, alcohol, dancing girls and the band. It's when we see the ... Read review

Serving up a treat
Review of Serving Sara DVD by MI9to5

Advantages: Quick witted humour
Disadvantages: Supporting cast little irritating at times

Serving Sara is one of those films that you love to hate. The storyline isn't the best it could be and neither the acting nor filming perfect but it is still an enjoyable romantic comedy. Joe Tyler (Matthew Perry) was once a hotshot lawyer but since being disbarred he has found himself hunting down defendants and handing them legal summons. This as once so easy for him but just lately actually catching the defendants in question has been difficult, ...
...Joe is sent to serve divorce papers to the beautiful but unsuspecting millionaires Sara Moore (Elizabeth Hurley), Miami hating Tony is less than impressed and will stop at nothing to discredit Joe. Meanwhile after managing to serve Mrs Moore the papers he finds himself stuck on a bus with her and her four thousand question. Luckily for him though one of these questions is worth one million dollars and all he has to do is say yes. That is yes to ... Read review
