Laurel & Hardy, Laughs above the rest.
Advantages: Funny, clean humour that stands the test of time. Disadvantages: Absolutely none!
...it where it belongs.
Laurel & Hardy despite their lack of the above mentioned "humour" have managed to do something that only modern comedians can dream about. They kept the world laughing consistently for years and have continued to do so 60 years after their deaths. I don't know any modern "great" that I'd remember and still be talking about in a year if he disappeared today. There is one exception and I just did a review on that yesterday, but ... ...a nice box with the Laurel & Hardy logo and a pic of the happy two on the top & sides. Opening the box you are presented with a row of real DVD disc boxes, not the usual cardboard or pocket type rubbish. Each disc spine has the part of a picture that makes up the duo's bowler hats when stacked together. The discs are numbered 1-21 with the last one having a title "A special tribute to the boys" along with other comedy shorts.
Please note that the ...

You Wait Ages For a Review of a Marilyn Film...
Advantages: Unusual role for Marilyn Monroe, some great dialogue, moving Disadvantages: Rodeo scenes, you hate Bo at first!
Bus Stop is a film from 1956 starring Marilyn Monroe and Don Murray. This film lasts 96 minutes and was Marilyn's 29th movie. She had star billing in this one and plays quite a different role from what you might expect.
Cherie is rather a sad character in many ways. She has had to grow up quickly, has few friends and longs for a better life. She owns a map charting where she has come from and intends to go to Hollywood to become a star. Most of ... ...I used to watch Bus Stop a lot in the late 1980s. I went to University in 1988 and took my VCR and some of my favourite films, including this one. I used to think Don Murray was a bad actor in this, but in hindsight, I think he is actually acting very well here - it is the character that is annoying.
Bo starts off as an ignorant bully, but makes a journey throughout the film. He is advised by Virgil and learns from the people he meets, especially ...

An hilarious tale of a gang of crafty chickens!
Advantages: Great family comedy. All round excellent. Disadvantages: none.
In my opinion this film is smashing! Amazing animation from the Wallace and Gromit crew captures the lives of a unit of battery chickens and their desperate and imaginitive attempts to escape.
Faced with certain death at the hands of the evil farmers wife and her halfwit husband, they are only too happy to accept the help of the dashing cockerel who "flies" into their enclosure one night. So begins their most daring plan so far, but is everything ... ...have the upper hand?
This film is a visul delight, the detail and consideration given to each character is wonderful. This is enhanced by the brilliant script, voiced by a choice selection of actors more that equipt to do justice to a dialogue full of memorable one liners. It is suitable for both the young and the old and won't leave your children behind. The action is often hilarious and the story will have you cheering for the chickens along with ...

Come And 'Ave A Shag!
Advantages: Fun, entertaining, good musical numbers, Marilyn Monroe Disadvantages: Milton Berle
INTRODUCTION
This weekend sees the 45th anniversary since the sudden death of Marilyn Monroe. While it is a time when fans feel particularly sad about her early passing, it is also a good opportunity to remember her life and to celebrate all she achieved. So, yesterday, I watched two of her films on DVD – Lades of the Chorus (1949) for the first time ever and Let’s Make Love (1960) for the second time. Both are great upbeat movies which reminded ... ...entertainment world. Here is my review for…
LET’S MAKE LOVE
By the time Let’s Make Love was released, Marilyn had been making films for thirteen years. She had played serious, dramatic roles, but this one was back to the light, fluffy comedy musical the public always associated her with. Her co-stars this time were French actor Yves Montand and British singer Frankie Vaughan. The idea was something of a Cinderella story with a twist. While essentially ...

~~Briefly about the film~~
Janeane Garfalo (of The Truth about cats and dogs and Mystery Men) plays Marcy Tizard in this film she is helping an American Senator John McGlory (Played by Jay O Sanders) To trace his Irish ancestors, ... ...the middle of a matchmaking festival.
