Beetlejuice
Review of Beetlejuice DVD by
blissman70
Advantages: Good comedy and an entertaining movie
Disadvantages: none really
...The Maithlands must stop Beetlejuice from harming the Deetzes before someone gets killed….again….??? And there's only one way to rid the world of such an arrogant ghost…..
**IN CONCLUSION** This one is a little difficult to get to grips with, it tries to be a little scary in a comical way, with the image of Beetlejuice emerging being the scariest thing in the movie.
The story is pretty well written and the acting isn't to bad either. The special ... ...like something out of the 1970's 'B' movie era when you see the badly laid out dodgy cut outs and corrugated cardboard scenery, but as this was deliberately made this way for the movie then it does add to the comical aspect.
What can you say about the actors themselves…? Well they all played their parts well, Alec Baldwin and the gorgeous Geena Davis as the ghostly couple who just can't get the hang of haunting and scaring people…
But you will ...

Adventure in a pastel paradise
Review of Edward Scissorhands DVD by
kiss_me2070
Advantages: Great story-line, great film shots, Brill actors
Disadvantages: Wish the film lasted longer!
Edward Scissorhands reminds me of when I was a child. I used to watch it every year at Christmas and it was one of my favourite films.

The little coloured men are here!!!!
Review of Mars Attacks DVD by
scuba_angel
Advantages: Tim Burton's comedy alien film
Disadvantages: none
This is a film of which I have fond memories, it was the first 12 rated film I ever saw in the cinema and I was taken to see it on my 12th birthday - to this day I dont know why as I never expressed an interest in it but never the less I went and found that I loved the film.
The film itself follows in the traditions of all good B movies, larger than life stereotyped characters, bright colours and ridiculous looking aliens!
It opens with a herd ... ...on fire the effect of which is lost on the small screen. The opening credits are shown over pictures of the Martian craft approaching and surrounding the Earth. Your first view of the Martians is when they take over a TV transmission, the martian is analysed by the scientist (Pierce Brosnan) and like all good B movies it is assumed that the Martians are intelligent. But they aren't in fact they are the Martian equivalent of the British football fan ...

Ed-cellent
Review of Ed Wood DVD by
jamesdean1981
Advantages: Fantastic script, acting, and direction.
Disadvantages: None
...movie about the friendship between Ed and his most famous star, Bela Lugosi. When Ed meets the original screen Dracula early in the film, Lugosi is trying out coffins, a drug addict who is resigned to dying soon. Wood, to whom Lugosi is a hero, fuels him to attempt a comeback, giving Ed a star he thinks is bankable enough to propel him into the major league. Of course, as most people reading this will know, essentially Wood was a failure. He never ... ...the end of the film, Ed meets another hero of his, Orson Welles. Stupefied by the presence of his idol, Ed nevertheless goes across to introduce himself, telling Welles that like him, he directs, and acts – does everything. Does Welles believe him? The viewer is left unsure as to whether he takes the younger man seriously, or is just humouring him. But the legendary filmmaker appears, at least, to agree, and talks to Ed as an equal, and for ...
