The "truth is stranger than fiction"

Advantages: makes you feel warm and fluffy inside
Disadvantages: a bit of a weak ending

...films we picked up was Stranger than fiction, because he loves Will Farrell. I wasn't that bothered, and didn't really pay much attention, as we had also picked up a copy of Family Guy, Blue Harvest. Anyway I digress, I think my padding here is done… ~The Film~ The protagonist is Harold Crick (played by Will Farrell), gifted with super human mental arithmetic skills, so naturally, working for the IRS. Harold is a solitary existence, his only "friends" ...
...does interact with on a daily basis, he is straight laced and focused on work, compelled to live his life following as many rules and routines as possible. The film begins, and a woman, with an English accent is narrating, as if reading from a book, or as if film's script had been taken straight from a novel, sort of like The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Harold goes about his daily life, and then one day, whilst brushing his teeth, 13 strokes ...

Fashionistic comedy

Advantages: great fashion, great acting, good plot
Disadvantages: something now quite there

...a fan of sex in the city and I thought this would really be along the same lines. I chose to watch it as I love Meryl Streep and believe that she is a very talented actress. However this film actually has good characterisations, a plot and a very good cast indeed. Once the Director has got over the setting up of Miranda Priestly (Streep) as the Uber Bitch and Andrea Hathaway (Andy Sachs) as the dedicated journalist who knows nothing about fashion ...
...Blunt playing the dangerous senior assistant Emily, Stanley Tucci as the fashion guru Nigel and Simon Baker as the seductive journalist Christian Thompson the story starts to build well. We see Andrea's (Andy) friends at first scoffing then jealous at her progress, watch while Miranda starts to trust Andy and cheer when Andy finally sorts out her priorities. Regrettably the ending is pure Hollywood Saccharine, but nevertheless I still found it ...

The Definitive PORRIDGE.

Advantages: THE BEST SITCOM EVER !!!
Disadvantages: N.O.T.H.I.N.G.

Porridge - The Complete Series Box Set Contains all series 1,2 and 3 And the Christmas Specials. Written by Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais. This is my all time favourite comedy. Time line: ~~~~~~~ It all began on the 1st of April (aptly enough) in 1973 when a pilot aired on the BBC called ‘Prisoner and Escort’. It followed Norman Stanley Fletcher being escorted to Prison by Mr McKay and Mr Barrowclough. Fletch ...
...BBC Britain's Best Sitcom on Porridge in full (approx 1 hour). No Way Out (Christmas Eve 1975) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In his innocence, Godber is looking forward to Christmas, but fletch knows that if, ''there's one big event around here, it's not the coming of our lord, it's the leaving of Tommy slocombe". And this Christmas, he is determined to stay well clear of the tunnelling Tommy slocombe, his dodgy mates and their even dodgier plans for ...

You are my Sunshine!

Advantages: Good roles played by the characters
Disadvantages: Shoddy editing and camerawork

For a movie generated from the Amerindie algorithm of family dysfunction, road-trip catharsis and studied quirk, this dark-edged ensemble comedy often borders on the loveable – as if a long-division problem had somehow become self-aware and started pining for a heart, a brain and some nerve. The yellow brick freeway in ‘Little Miss Sunshine’ leads to a girls’ beauty contest for Olive (Abigail Breslin), a cutie pie who’s nonetheless not quite pageant ...
...no other reason, Olive’s entire family must pile into a wheezing van to deliver her to the competition for the titular crown: Uncle Frank (Steve Carell) recently survived a suicide attempt, mum (Toni Collette) is loving but overextended, dad (Greg Kinnear) is an aspiring self-help guru and therefore a nightmare, brother Dwayne (Paul Dano) is a teenager and therefore mute and sulking, and grandpa (Alan Arkin) is a grandpa and therefore crusty and ...

No Fuzzy-Wuzzies Here!!!

Advantages: Fantastic characters, memorable lines
Disadvantages: A classic show like this doesn't have any

Dad’s Army is a British comedy series that was broadcast between 1968 and 1977. In a BBC poll in 2004 to find Britain’s best sitcom the show was voted number 4 – just ahead of Fawlty Towers and Yes Minister but below The Vicar of Dibley, Blackadder and Only Fools and Horse, which topped the list. What is Dads Army? The premise for Dad’s Army is very simple indeed. The show follows the men of the home guard of Walmington-on-Sea on the south ...
...based around their antics as they try to become a force fit to withstand anything thrown at them by the Nazis, or the Wardens or the Church Verger. The series as a whole is technically told as a series of flashback stories as the first episode begins in the ‘present day’ at a dinner as Captain Mainwaring addresses his old platoon. The programme doesn’t however return back to the present day in the final episode and this flashback idea isn’t evident ...
